Yesterday's Britain, A Better Britain.
It's 1985 and I've just started work. My first month's salary was £160. I worked shifts in a freight office in Dover. A few months later I passed my driving test and bought a cheap car for a few hundred pounds. I put some money to one side and went on holiday for a week. I'd occasionally buy games for my ZX Spectrum and go to the pub with my mates, to have a good night with just £20. Then, one day, I left my job and got another one. It paid more and now I worked regular office hours. I upgraded my car and went on holiday again. Exciting times. Carefree times. And I've only got 2 'O' Levels - grade D! I'm glad to have been part of that era, for it was the best. I wouldn't want to be young today, and looking for a job. And what we had then is gone for good.

Think we've reached the point where it's more of a flex to have a crappy old car than a shiny new one. Shows you have your priorities straight. I work in car insurance and can confirm that the vast, vast majority of people with fancy cars have them on ludicrous finance deals

@BorisJohnson What kind of maniac puts a country under house arrest for 2 years on the strength of lie while simultaneously flooding it with millions of foreign invaders?

It was the Conservatives who enshrined the Net Zero by 2050 in law. No other country was stupid enough. It is welcome that the Tories have realised it is madness for a major economy to pursue rapid decarbonisation when our competitors still use fossil fuels.
Claire Coutinho@ClaireCoutinho

It is a difficult thing to say your party has got it wrong. We all care about the environment but making our people poor while the world watches is making us a warning not an example. Kudos to @TufnellHenry for his bravery today.

You can lend your money to Rachel Reeves for ten years for a return of 5% per annum, or you can set fire to it.

Reform are emailing, texting, and cold calling members asking them to stand as council candidates. They’re relaxing vetting standards and openly saying they’ll take paper candidates. They’re worried they won’t be able to stand a full suite of candidates. We’re past peak Reform.

I have never seen this before, but I have long suspected, and posted that I believe John Major was a Fabian plant to get rid of her. Major has an elusive background, with fee qualifications, but was steamrolled, beyond his qualifications and abilities in to the position of Chancellor. He orchestrated her downfall, and when she was gone he crashed the economy on Black Wednesday, making LSE Fabian, George Soros a billionaire, and helped usher in Fabian New Labour Under Blair and Mandleson. Seeing this video, only confirms she knew how dangerous they were. Therefore, she had to go.
Margaret Thatcher@realmrsthatcher

Freedom can also be lost little by little, by what the Fabians call the doctrine of gradualness. A little more taxation here, a little more government expenditure there, year after year until the people are no longer the masters of the state but its servants. There are always, it seems, good reasons advanced for the state to have more power. But rarely for the state to divest itself of power. Each new problem becomes an excuse for more government intervention and less individual responsibility.
