@mipsytipsy I just took myself out of our first line rotation for exactly that reason; having to cancel a performance review because I had just been paged reinforced that I wasn’t doing the right thing for anyone.

Mmm -- possibly. I used to say this too, and then I found myself in a situation where my being on call was disruptive to/creating extra work for the team. I'd be lugging my laptop around to a day full of meetings... if the meeting was important, someone would have to cover me.
