Before Citizens United, billionaires spent around $16 million on presidential elections. In 2024, they spent $2.6 BILLION. And what did they get for that money? They got a MASSIVE tax cut for themselves.

One of the annoying things about the low-IQ rightists who populate this site is they assume everyone else is as dumb as they are. I posted here that it would make more sense to idolize Denmark than Hungary, so various chuds are popping out of the woodwork to be like “hurrr durr you libs would hate Denmark’s immigration policies.” I know all about Denmark’s immigration policies — it was a deliberately well-chosen example to illustrate how bizarre, corrupt, and irrational the MAGA obsession with boosting Viktor Orbán is, this is an approach that is *not* justifiable in terms of belief in free markets or restrictive immigration policies, if it was you could idolize Trols Poulsen. You could talk about Mette Fredericksen moving to the middle on migration in a way that could be a model for other center-left leaders. But *my whole point* is precisely that Trump isn’t doing that, he’s repeatedly threatening to invade Danish sovereign territory while relentlessly focused on cheerleading for Fidesz. It doesn’t make sense, that’s my argument because I know what I’m talking about.

If you want to get obsessed with copying a European country, I would pick Denmark over Hungary.

In the middle of a historic mission back to the Moon, this Administration is proposing to a 47% cut to NASA science and a 23% cut to NASA’s budget overall. Last week’s launch showed our country and world what we’re capable of when we work together toward a common goal. None of that can happen without support for science and research.

Been there (my photo from inside where Hezbollah drilled into solid rock). Hezbollah built hundreds of these tunnels and bunkers along the border under the watch of over 10,000 UN forces supposedly there to prevent it. They filled their tunnels with weapons and rockets. Some meant to conduct an October 7th style attack much larger than what Hamas executed. @KatiePavlich

Why is it difficult (yet necessary) to root out Hezbollah and destroy its terrorist infrastructure, stockpiles, and means of movement? Because this is what they’ve built: sophisticated tunnels - with lighting, comms, and rail transport - drilled through solid rock as deep as 20 stories below the surface. This tunnel near Shtula under the Israel-Lebanon border (aka right under the UN’s nose) was discovered and sealed by the IDF during Operation Northern Shield.

🦔A researcher invented a fake eye condition called bixonimania, uploaded two obviously fraudulent papers about it to an academic server, and watched major AI systems present it as real medicine within weeks. The fake papers thanked Starfleet Academy, cited funding from the Professor Sideshow Bob Foundation and the University of Fellowship of the Ring, and stated mid-paper that the entire thing was made up. Google's Gemini told users it was caused by blue light. Perplexity cited its prevalence at one in 90,000 people. ChatGPT advised users whether their symptoms matched. The fake research was then cited in a peer-reviewed journal that only retracted it after Nature contacted the publisher. My Take The researcher made the papers as obviously fake as possible on purpose. The AI systems didn't catch it. Neither did the human researchers who cited it in real journals, which means people are feeding AI-generated references into their work without reading what they're actually citing. I've covered the FDA using AI for drug review, the NYC hospital CEO ready to replace radiologists, and ChatGPT Health launching this year. All of that is happening in the same environment where a condition funded by a Simpsons character and endorsed by the crew of the Enterprise was being presented as emerging medical consensus. The people making these deployment decisions seem to believe the pipeline from research to AI to patient is more supervised than it actually is. This experiment suggests it isn't supervised much at all. Hedgie🤗 nature.com/articles/d4158…

Bolton: Marco Rubio should lead the US delegation. That is his job. Sending the vice president to meet some unknown Iranian raises the stakes unnecessarily, and you do not let your adversary pick who you send to negotiate. 1/

Again, there is nothing the United States or its interest or allies gain from supporting Orban. It’s even against the Trump admin's own stated goals, as the WSJ points out. This is purely a Kremlin mission and Trump and Vance are carrying it out obediently.
Nate Sibley@NateSibley

WSJ: "Mr. Vance likes to say Europe should play the leading role in supporting Ukraine, since Ukraine doesn’t matter to the U.S.—yet Mr. Orbán is obstructing a European financial plan to do exactly that. The Hungarian is also trying to deepen commercial ties with China." wsj.com/opinion/jd-van…

@Noahpinion After thinking about this I came to the conclusion that the rate of assimilation is not actually the most important factor. Most important are the (ideally nonexistent) consequences for apostasia and the tolerance of other faiths/atheism

Assimilation should not mean giving up religious practices. What it means is that those religious practices don't separate you from Americans of other religions on a daily basis. (The worst assimilators here by far are the ultra-Orthodox Jews, btw, not Muslims)
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Practicing Muslims — despite being repeatedly asked to — can’t disavow “sharia” even if they wanted to. The sharia includes guidelines on how to pray, fast and otherwise observe what it means to submit to God in daily practice. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…

While massive crowds are gathering at our campaign events, the regime, gripped by fear, has shifted into panic mode. They have fired up the shredders, and the disintegration of the power structure has begun. In exactly four days, the decisive parliamentary election will conclude. Now is the time to push forward, now is the time to mobilize all our energy. Under a TISZA government, order, peace, and security will return to Hungary. And, of course, there will be more smiles and more joy. Long live a free, independent, European, and humane Hungary.❤️🤍💚

How Tehran views Trump going from threats of complete annihilation to accepting Iran’s 10 demands as the basis of negotiations. Many of America’s friends in the Middle East hold a similar view.
