2. Some were very young but knew it meant something. Many more lived with the after effects of the war for the years to come. To those who gave their lives, we thank them. To all who got us through the dark times, we thank you. We remember them all.

Thorners at Regents Park Road hosted a VE Day celebration in 1945. They weren’t our residents we had moved them to the Toc-H hostel in Bournemouth for safety. They were those bombed out families we housed. Today our residents had a cream tea. Many remembered the actual day and

We were delighted to have singers at our Christmas coffee mornings this week. Foundry Lane School Choir and the Crescent Singers. The latter sang Joy to the World written in 1719 by Isaac Watts. Isaac’s father also Isaac, was one of the first trustees of Robert Thorner’s will.

An amazing job cleaning our stonework. Thank you @payestonework @AndPaye We can now read the ones from the 1700’s.

Almshouses are social housing and are #affordablehousing that not only provide for now, but generally provide for ever, as they are not subject to right to buy. They should be included.

Yesterday we were gifted a piano for the lounge at Robert Thorner Court. By then end of the day it had been played five times by three people. The joy it brought was immeasurable. Thanks to Kate Holmes & the Mann Family.
