@GooseworxMusic I love him and he is still my favorite character. I mean how is he even supposed to stay sane? His whole existence, everything he was made for (and he put everything he had into it!) was pretty much revealed to always be hated by the people he cares most about for eternity.

New in Claude Code: auto mode. Instead of approving every file write and bash command, or skipping permissions entirely, auto mode lets Claude make permission decisions on your behalf. Safeguards check each action before it runs.

The footage is from Japan🇯🇵… Hachi, who was once a stray cat, now has a home but hasn’t forgotten his past. Every day, he secretly sneaks out to meet his old friends 😺 When returning home, he carefully moves without stepping on the ground so his paws don’t get wet and his owner won’t notice. The neighbor who filmed the footage describes him like this: “He’s the smartest cat I’ve ever seen.” 😂♥️

Not enough people talk about how unpleasant vibecoding is. The best analogy I can think of is driving. It's cool that we can just hop in a car and drive to the store. It's a lot faster than walking. And yet, it's so stressful and infuriating, we had to invent a new word just to describe its effect on people: "road rage." AI-assisted coding is the same. It's so much faster--there's no going back to coding everything by hand, the equivalent of walking everywhere. And yet it's incredibly annoying and stressful. It's characterized by annoying delays between requests, time-wasting misunderstandings, blatant lying, and absurd overconfidence. Hopefully this gets better as models improve.

@LincolnMargison @DK_Able Just a quick correction, Game Genie didn't detect the game. The codes were game specific, and essentially overwrote key *actual* memory locations. You literally had a book with codes, and they were specific per game. Very basic compared to today. 😆

@om_patel5 Not accurate. The ENABLE_LSP_TOOL=1 flag was only required before v2.0.74. But it doesn't do anything until you install language server plugins for your languages. You need to install the relevant language server binary and plugin before Claude can actually use it.

claude code has a hidden setting that makes it 600x faster and almost nobody knows about it by default it uses text grep to find functions. it doesn't understand your code at all. that's why it takes 30-60 seconds and sometimes returns the wrong file there's a flag called ENABLE_LSP_TOOL that connects it to language servers. same tech that powers vscode's ctrl+click to jump straight to the definition after enabling it: > "add a stripe webhook to my payments page" - claude finds your existing payment logic in 50ms instead of grepping through hundreds of files > "fix the auth bug on my dashboard" - traces the actual call hierarchy instead of guessing which file handles auth > after every edit it auto-catches type errors immediately instead of you finding them 10 prompts later also saves tokens because claude stops wasting context searching for the wrong files 2 minute setup and it works for 11 languages

Parsing PDFs is insanely hard This is completely unintuitive at first glance, considering PDFs are the most commonly used container of unstructured data in the world. I wrote a blog post digging into the PDF representation itself, why its impossible to “simply” read the page into plaintext, and what the modern parsing techniques are 👇 The crux of the issue is that PDFs are designed to display text on a screen, and not to represent what a word means. 1️⃣ PDF text is represented as glyph shapes positioned at absolute x,y coordinates. Sometimes there’s no mapping from character codes back to a unicode representation 2️⃣ Most PDFs have no concept of a table. Tables are described as grid lines drawn with coordinates. Traditional parser would have to find intersections between lines to infer cell boundaries and associate with text within cells through algorithms 3️⃣ The order of operators has no relationship with reading order. You would need clustering techniques to be able to piece together text into a coherent logical format. That’s why everyone today is excited about using VLMs to parse text. Which to be clear has a ton of benefits, but still limitations in terms of accuracy and cost. At @llama_index we’re building hybrid pipelines that interleave both text and VLMs to give both extremely accurate parsing at the cheapest price points. LlamaIndex 🦙@llama_index

PDFs are the bane of every AI agent's existence: here's why parsing them is so much harder than you think 📄 Every developer building document agents eventually hits the same wall: PDFs weren't designed to be machine-readable. They're drawing instructions from 1982, not structured data. 📝 PDF text isn't stored as characters: it's glyph shapes positioned at coordinates with no semantic meaning 📊 Tables don't exist as objects: they're just lines and text that happen to look tabular when rendered 🔄 Reading order is pure guesswork — content streams have zero relationship to visual flow 🤖 Seventy years of OCR evolution led us to combine text extraction with vision models for optimal results We built LlamaParse using this hybrid approach: fast text extraction for standard content, vision models for complex layouts. It's how we're solving document processing at scale. Read the full breakdown of why PDFs are so challenging and how we're tackling it: llamaindex.ai/blog/why-readi…

@ArtValley6 i find it so interesting like if only they knew was 2000’s newgrounds was like. not to sound like a “you wouldn’t survive a cod lobby” redditor, but 80% of the fanbase would be disgusted if they saw what all their beloved actors made as teenagers haha

This should have been done since day one. So many people are asking LLMs for stuff that can be quickly (and a lot more reliably as well!) solved by a tool call.

Fallout 2 had a Perk called Childkiller. To "earn" it you had to murder at least three children in the game. This images was made but even for Fallout 2 (pre-Bethesda) this was too much, so this image, although real, wasn't in the game. Fallout 2 was almost banned in Europe because of the child killing. They couldn't recode it, so they simply removed all children from the game in the European release. As players of later Fallouts know, beginning with Fallout 3, after Bethesda bought it and put their stamp on it, children in Fallout are unkillable. Much to the annoyance of some players. It has also been noted that this image is slightly "conservative coded". Vault Boy is kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach, trying to induce an abortion. And since the Perk is "childkiller," this message is "inducing an abortion" = "killing a child". Which of course, it is.
