@thintechgodhead I don't quite catch their rhetoric. Are they being oppressed because they're women or are trans men priveleged because they grow up and are seen as women?

ah yes, afab privilege, the historically noted phenomenon of everyone being super cool and normal about afabs,
doggydog@doggydognosekai

@Captainkit118 Because they're our oppressors and have AFAB privilege and we don't Why are you comparing things that are completely different?

cannot emphasize enough how stupid this hot take is when the most famous trans man alive is a porn star
chloe@footbirl

@C1air3492 @c5t_scissoring @Idyot2 @prismagica_ the fact that trans women go into sex work while trans men dont shows that they are more oppressed btw

@turningmystile I don't understand why they want us to deny being trans so much. Acknowledging that we're not cis and therefore have been (mis)treated accordingly is an important part of solving this problem in the first place. Doesn't make us not men.

This account is purely made for arguing btw. I do have normal conversations and life outside of twitter. Twitter is purely my vent space and for political comments. So yeah "all you do is argue" is precicely the purpose of this profile, I don't come here often.

femininity is inherently submissive because its a set of gender roles for women and girls, and at the core of it is submission. femininity ≠ femaleness, and femaleness ≠ submission.

@beardpandaa With all the "choosing to transition into oppressors/oppressed" I would honestly believe some of those people actually don't want said equality.

If you encourage chivalry, I'm going to assume you don't see women as equals.

@WickedStag Which is to say, trans men never transition in hopes to gain power to begin with. Not only it doesn't work this way, but neither we hope for it. We want to break down the gender norms and bring cis men to our level, not climb up to their pedestal of priveleged power.

@WickedStag Which does nothing for trans community as basically half of our issues are being ignored and dismissed. Not to mention it also stems from misoginy and gender stereotypes so perhaps it doesn't just not contribute, but actually makes it even worse.

"trans men transition into the oppressors" ignoring the fact that is just incorrect, do you just have no desire or vision to break down gender norms and the patriarchy? what are we doing here?

@ibannysmowo They claim that trans men don't see themselves as men because they speak of misogyny they face. But then why do trans women complain about being seen as predators and perverted men? Don't they think of themselves as women?

@ibannysmowo When it's about privelege trans men are just like any cis man. But when needing to admit our discrimination and harassment - it doesn't exist because girls are treated gently and we had "female friendships" growing up, we're coddled by medics because girly girl girls etc.

@ibannysmowo With all these takes about trans men needing to equate themselves to cis men and show chivalry to women it sounds like they support patriarchal attitudes and gender roles. I know it isn't the case, but I've seen too many people talk in misogynistic stereotypes in this discourse.

@emilunar13 @tsumugiprogre @ashsorceress2 And yes, I added at the end that it is simply an explanation to why trans men struggle to associate with such toxic masculinity fully, while you could argue they can be compared to less priveleged cis men. But as a demographic they don't uphold it and rarely ever engage in sexism

@emilunar13 @tsumugiprogre @ashsorceress2 Exactly, we should all fight against it. The nuance is that for men it is systemic as a group and a lot of that hurts cis men also stems from misoginy. Everyone can support patriarchy individually, including women and trans men.

i lost a bunch of followers for saying trans men are men and when they experience privilege for being a man, they should acknowledge it and work to help undo the systems that create that privilege. why is this even remotely controversial
