@rdeemed70 @PhDVoice @PostdocVoice Exactly- to finally move forward, I had to shut out the other voices and turn inward. That is not easy- but now when Inspeak with prof colleagues- they listen and call me " expert"- pretty cool transformation. A little lonely in the cocoon.

@ericadiyabasu @PhDVoice @PostdocVoice I did mine in my 50s too and it miraculously led to a uni job doing the exact thing I researched. Slam Dunk and I want to publish but only because the research is valuable.

@PhDVoice @PostdocVoice How insane the publish or perish ethos is in academia resulting in so many totally unnecessary journal articles being written. So glad I did my PhD at 50 with beyond academia objectives for doing it.
