IMO one of the bigger pieces evidence of AI being nowhere near sentience or actually intelligence is how incredibly dumb (like, dumber than my 2 year old by a mile) they are about inferring intent. You give them an “evil master plan” they will say “sorry I can’t be evil”, you give them a list of actions presented without content that are obviously bad, so long as there are no verboten words or phrases, it will merrily go along helping

Here's a prompt where Opus 4.7 will just straight up refuse to comply with the query. Whereas GPT 5.5 will answer a modified query after some serious throat clearing. Meanwhile older models don't push back at you at all.
