@thundersc1ence @PhETsims Their confusion is justified if they haven't derived Ug = -GMm/r. It is only negative because we set r initial to infinity. Otherwise we get Delta Ug = GMm/ri - GMm/rf. Recommend doing some mgh problems early in the year where you set the class ceiling height as h = 0.

I revised my orbit lab for the new My Solar System @PhETsims. Give it a try and let me know if you spot any errors or have comments. It is designed for AP Mech C but should work well for AP 1 too. The first half should be good for regular physics classes. phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations…

Physical pendulums for the "Pendulum vs Pendulum Challenge" for AP C. They experimentally found the period of one of these then determined the length a simple pendulum would have to have match it. The hula hoops and PVC were tougher but they did well.

Hence, our solutions, are thorough but extensive and excessive in minutiae; especially, considering the "prohibitions" on pronouns (for clarity not gender).
