@jduck Jaron Lanier has been arguing for a more human-centered approach to AI, with proper attribution and references, for quite a while: youtu.be/W2OwzfEaasI His line of thought seems quite similar to yours.

On AI, lack of attribution removes the human element of information and thus the credibility that comes with it. Also, this technology blatantly disregards copyright and other IP law.

@BenHeddwyn Fair enough. I've heard similar points being made over the last couple of days on more than one occasion. Several people were quite enthusiastic about the Scandinavian and Polish scene, though. Maybe I should shift my gaze towards the northeast 🤔.

I found #37c3 rather disappointing. IMHO it was mostly side show with very little quality content. Which events should I attend instead in 2024 if I crave strong security and engineering tracks, sprinkled with some science and Netzpolitik ?

@foxrabbitsophie The hair's getting a little greyer, but other than that I guess I'm holding up pretty well 😁

@foxrabbitsophie Oh noes. Please don't die. 😱 On the upside: This finally managed to motivate me to get my shit together and become a patron.

Can we please stop this madness of requiring at least one app per company, or worse, per service, and simply make websites do their job again the way they used to ?

With all this talk about #twitter becoming an "everything app": You are aware that we used to have an everything app 20 years ago ? It was called a web browser.

A system cannot be successful if it is too strongly influenced by a single person. Once the initial design is complete and fairly robust, the real test begins as people with many different viewpoints undertake their own experiments. —Donald Knuth

Friendly reminder that std::endl always flushes the ostream. So if you're wondering why your process that's writing to a file or producing a lot of output is so slow, you might want to use a plain '\n' instead and do a manual flush when you're ready. #cpp
