As an Iranian still inside Iran, connected through Starlink while the regime tries to black out the entire country, Reporters Without Borders just confirmed what we already live every single day:
Iran ranks near the bottom of global press freedom.
For 47 years the regime has turned our country into one of the most suffocating information prisons on Earth. Journalists are arrested, tortured, raped and executed for simply telling the truth. Newspapers are censored before they even hit the stands. Every screen, every radio, every billboard is regime propaganda. They don’t just control the press — they are the press. And the Iranian people are left starving for real information while the world is fed lies.But it gets worse.
The regime has now rolled out a new “tiered internet” system that makes China’s social credit score look like child’s play. Global internet access is no longer a right — it’s a privilege they hand out based on your loyalty to the Islamic Republic. Every citizen is categorized. Each tier unlocks certain websites and blocks others. The higher you “rank” (by how obedient you are, how much you spy on your neighbors, how loudly you chant for the regime), the more of the real world you’re allowed to see.
And at the very top? The White Simcard. Full, unrestricted global internet. Only for the most loyal regime dogs — the ones who have proven they will sell out their own people without hesitation.This is Iran’s version of social credit, and it’s worse. It’s not just about what you can buy or where you can travel. It’s about whether you’re even allowed to know what’s happening outside the prison walls they built around 90 million souls.
While all of this is happening, some of the Western media — especially the leftist outlets — continue to parrot the Islamic Republic’s propaganda like it’s gospel. At the exact moment when the Iranian people need truth and press freedom the most, these so-called journalists are busy whitewashing the regime, downplaying the massacres, and painting the butchers as “reformers” or “resistance.”We see you.
Every single one of you.
Iranians will not forget who stood with the truth and who sold their soul for clicks and regime access. And the free world should not forget either.We are still willing to endure the economic pressure, the anxiety of this endless “neither war nor peace” limbo, the blackouts, the selective internet, the fear. We have endured 47 years of hell. But we will never accept that our suffering is in vain.

Iran’s “masterful” shadow fleet and China loopholes worked against lazy paper sanctions, not a Trump-era naval blockade that’s literally seizing tankers in Hormuz..
Their oil is already shutting in, the rial’s in freefall, and revenues are cratering with nowhere to store the stuff.

2. Covering up violence and massacres: Security forces’ crackdown reportedly killed thousands… The blackout limits documentation, witness videos, and information flow, helping hide human rights abuses.
3. Wartime control during the 2026 Iran conflict: After strikes began on Feb 28, connectivity plummeted further. It restricts civilian reporting on damage/strikes, reduces external scrutiny, and (per officials) protects against foreign interference. It also isolates people from independent news.
