@tify330 That’s not control. That’s advocacy. Every interest group does it in one form or another. The expectation that as an elected official you can vote against an interest groups’s priorities and still expect funding from them is illogical.

This is a ridiculous headline. Imagine thinking grown-ass people who are elected care about being “punished” by AIPAC. They voted how they wanted as they should. Seems like AIPAC did them a favor if you ask me.

@jmaxmann If the minute they go against what you think is the “right way” to vote and you cut them off then you are in a quid pro quo relationship. You are giving something in this case money to get something , a vote in your favor in return. That’s a form of control.

It’s a ridiculous headline because an advocacy group decided they did not want to back elected officials who no longer voted in line with the position they advocate for. If a climate group backed a Congressperson who suddenly went all in on coal subsidies, the result would be the same.

And I already knew they would cut Glenn Ivey’s donations off when I saw his name on there. He will be just fine. This just goes to show the quid pro quo bullshit that happens in D.C.
