Look, I get the excitement—Arnold back as King Conan with McQuarrie directing? Huge. But Hollywood’s track record on legacy characters is trash. Too often it’s soulless content, not real storytelling.
The original 1982 Conan endures because it respected the myth, the grit, the weight. Bold choices. Epic score. A world that felt alive. Conan shaped by real loss and battle scars.
So the real question: Will they treat King Conan with the respect he deserves? Give older Arnold an arc worthy of the legend—age, regret, epic comeback. Honor the original by understanding WHY it still matters to fans today, not just copying it.
If they nail that, this could be legendary. ⚔️

THE THING had always been one of my guilty pleasures and I was thrilled when we got to make VAMPIRES together. This Library of Congress honor is much deserved by the great John Carpenter. Bravo, my friend. (John was gracious enough to present me with my star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Just a wonderful, generous man).

As you may have heard, “The Thing” has been added to the Library of Congress. We made the movie to push against the edges of what we could pull off, and it carries that strain in its bones. Seeing it now treated with the same care and reverence we had making it means a great deal to me and everyone who brought it to life. I especially want to remember TK Carter, who brought heart and humor into that desolate, frozen place and should be standing here with us today sharing in this recognition. Thank you to everyone who continues to keep it alive.
