@nathan_covey I'm very curious, can you share your new perspective after witnessing these two events?

In a moment like this, when tensions are high, part of the job of the president is to remind us of the ties that bind us together.

Hey crew. I’m back home. Out of the hospital for the 2nd and hopefully last time. A few days in ICU. Chest tubes. Lots of fluid drained. Today: no more tubes. Can walk alone. All good. So much better So grateful for all your prayers. And most grateful to be back with family ❤️

The powerful weapons used in modern wars threaten to lead us to a barbarism greater than that of the past. In the name of human dignity and international law, I repeat to those in positions of responsibility what Pope Francis used to say: 'War is always a defeat!' And with Pope Pius XII: 'Nothing is lost with peace. Everything can be lost with war.'

Calling c the "speed of light" completely misses the point. Rather, c is the "spacetime exchange rate": how many units of space you can exchange for one unit of time. In actuality, everything travels at the "speed of light", just not necessarily through space alone... (1/4)

@DavidSacks Even if true, a red herring and irrelevant as a defense of Trump’s support of an actual dictator. I know I can’t convince you but I legitimately don’t understand why we can’t get aligned on who the bad guy is here. It’s just so obvious

America is weaker because of our involvement in Ukraine (it depleted our stockpiles, increased our debt, and undermined the dollar), and it all could have been avoided if Biden had supported the Istanbul Agreement.
Saagar Enjeti@esaagar

It's been 3 years since Russia invaded Ukraine: The US has wasted 100+ billion dollars, millions are dead, the average age of their military is 40+, Russia controls 20%+ of the country, Russian war production is exploding and US sanctions have mostly failed

It's so hard to separate the quality of the presentation from the quality of the insight. But it's really, really important to do. Lots of bad ideas get put into very appealing packages.

Alexei Navalny was in the darkest pit. And yet he remained free. May his example of courage live for all time. God knows we need it in ours. thefp.com/p/alexei-naval…

Truly stunning work by @mckaycoppins. I got chills reading the account of Jan 6 and Mitt’s enraged rebuke of Hawley, et al as they huddled in the senate chamber pre-evacuation. Regardless of politics, Mitt is a dying breed, and I believe we’re worse for it.
McKay Coppins@mckaycoppins

For two years, I met with Mitt Romney in his DC townhome as he grappled with what his party—and his country—were becoming. The stories he told me from inside the Senate were extraordinary and damning. ROMNEY: A RECKONING is out next month. First excerpt: theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…

Today I have no poetry, only a broken heart and the brutal fact that broke it. Kate died this morning. Funeral expected this Saturday in Salt Lake City.

@paulg @joshuaackerman You may be right! But this particular way of verifying could be subject to a base rate error (i.e., there are so many more middle class or poor kids that they throw more, or many more, darts overall).
