The chapter in Patrick’s life that is his high school career has come to an end, and it’s left us with memories that will last a lifetime. However, his story is just beginning, and I’m confident his best football is in front of him.
I’ve reflected a lot on his football journey, and I’m amazed at the goodness of God. It’s comforting to be able to look back and see how He uses adversity and disappointment to build faith and grit in His children. We can always trust that His ways are far better and far above ours. Questioning why things happen the way they do is questioning whether we can trust His plan—and we know we can.
From a 9th-grade backup QB on JV who fell in love with the sport and the position, but wasn’t very good, to an elite senior QB who proved he was one of the best signal callers in the state of Florida, his story is one of hard work and perseverance.
He’s learned how to lead and be led, how to bounce back from defeat, and how to handle the expectations that come with winning. QB is one of the toughest positions in sports to play, and you can be the hero and the villain of the story just minutes apart. He’s become an accomplished student of the game and handles the highs and lows with calmness and poise.
Patrick’s run as a starter this year on a team that went 11–1 will always be legendary. The stats only tell part of the story—2,800+ yards of offense, 38 TDs, an undefeated regular season. He elevated his play in the biggest moments, and yet he is just getting started on his rise to becoming an elite QB. Most QBs have been training since they were very young; his first QB lessons came as a high schooler.
@patrickbeballin, keep trusting God, put Him first, and continue to grind as you always have. Your future as a QB is extremely bright. All of your dreams and goals are achievable in God’s timing. I’m proud and grateful to call you my son.
Thank you to each coach who has had an impact on molding him into the football player and man he’s become.
