Today, May 2nd, Japan time, is Special Week's birthday. Special Week was the first horse to win the Japanese Derby that I ever saw. Also, he was also a rival of my favorite horse, Grass Wonder. Although he couldn't beat Grass Wonder or El Condor Pasa, he competed in many domestic races and was consistently strong. And, his generation was called the "strongest generation," so even though he lost to Grass Wonder and El Condor Pasa, I think he was a pretty strong horse compared to previous champions.. I always thought of he as a horse that would be the main character in a manga or anime, but in Uma Musume, she really did become the main character. Because he was the most popular horse of that era. He was more popular than Grass Wonder and El Condor Pasa. He hasn't continued his sire line in Japan, but he has left many offspring through his daughter, Cesario. Even now, many of Special Week's great-grandchildren are active in the racing world. Also, he may continue his sire line in Korea. Crown Pride, who has become a stallion in Korea, is a grandson from his sire line. If you watch horse racing in Korea, please keep an eye on Crown Pride's offspring. Their debut will be in a few years, though.
