Working on something... One of the biggest steps Solana can make towards a thriving ecosystem is having Program Interfaces. All contracts should be operable by a normie user through an explorer, WITHOUT having to interact with a program's SDK in some sketchy website. Currently this is not possible on Solana. But it will be soon.

@BackTheBunny You are missing the distributional aspect, as well as the distortions caused by the definitionally conjoined large capital account imbalance on the other side. The current BOP imbalances are structural. See Michael Pettis for the best explanations of this.

US: I will give you my units of currency that I congeal out of the ether, you will give me all your assets Germany and Japan: Ok. here are all of our things. we give you real resources for your currency data entries, willingly. we think we are winning. "Pro US" trade people: hey we want to keep those data entries! stop giving us all your stuff other countries. the accounting scares us. the "transfer of wealth" is to the US, not the other way around. we get the stuff. "trade deficit".... we have such a gift, and look right past it. all that matters is inflation. if that's kept in check (relative to other currencies), you should want to pilfer as much stuff as you can. give me your things please. being a "reserve currency" (which just means people want to hold USD and conduct transactions with it) greatly enhances this, because it's that-more-more demand for USD. meaning we can create units of currency that are happily absorbed and held, and get more things from others in trade to add to our pile of stuff. give me your stuff.

A core problem of web3 is the problem of collateral, as in there is hardly any good collateral. Same problem as the legacy financial system. Not all data can be collateral in a pure sense. But it can bring unquestionable real world value into web3, and help build stability.
