@rogerclemens @RochieWBZ Fun story—I struck out 20 on that same day in my little league game! Although it was a 7 inning game so I considered myself probably just a little better than Clemens 😂 Alas that was the highlight of MY baseball career. Congrats on an amazing feat!

@BHallWrites My Senior Year and we road tripped for the game. I was behind the goalposts when Gordon’s kick came through. It was unreal.

@ChrisDokish yep. And the fallout since they decided to retain Capel is NOT Capel's fault. These current and future players see a coach who isn't supported by the administration. They fired his brother and two other assistants. Players are probably pissed off--they love the staff.

What’s it like with a lot of Pitt fans this year “Get rid of them!! They stink!!” Pitt gets rid of them all “Why would you get rid of them all?!?!”

@DixonDisciple ADs fault. Fire a coach or retain him—don’t retain him, fire three of his assistants and hand over roster building to a new guy. Returning players are probably livid and recruits are turned off. Portal will be tough too. Who wants to play somewhere the coach isn’t supported?

Yet another example of a great player taking a step back and thinking “Wait a second, why would I want to play for Jeff Capel?” What a disaster. Pitt and Jay Kuntz can post all the GIFs they want, but the fact of the matter is the program I love is in a terrible place.

NEWS: Anthony Felesi, a top-40 recruit in the class of 2026, has decommitted from Pitt, his agent Daniel Moldovan told DraftExpress. The 6'5 Samoan wing is arguably the best defender in his high school class and will be highly sought after as a free agent.

@ClubConteBC I agree. Formidable rim protector and lots of potential. He was a player I hoped we could keep.

I think people may be surprised by the amount of high level high major interest I forecast Jayden Hastings receiving. Quality rim protectors with that size and motor. I will miss Jayden and another developmental success story.

Known as the most positive and optimistic Pitt basketball fan, this is really testing it A lot of my hope for this season had to do because of Felesi, this is a total gut punch Just an educated guess, BYU lost a lot of players and have a lot of money and Felesi went to same HS as Dybantsa, wouldn’t be surprised if they after him and he ends up there

@Dueycbb Excellent hire for Cuse. He played and coached there way longer than he was at Siena so not really a big jump for him at all.

He’s definitely a better coach than Autry, you saw that in the game against Duke but I think staying in the Boeheim circle is not smart and going from the MAAC to the ACC is a big jump
Pete Thamel@PeteThamel

Sources: Syracuse is working to finalize a deal to hire Siena coach Gerry McNamara as the school’s next head coach, per me and @jeffborzello. McNamara won a national championship as a player at Syracuse and led Siena to the NCAA Tournament this year.

@dabrams24 ‘94 (my grad year) was magical for BC athletics. I loved this squad more than any before or since. So damn good. Btw I think I played against you (scrimmage) in high school (I played for White Plains HS). I remember thinking that big, young kid has great hands!

March 1994 Boston College takes down UNC in the NCAA tournament. A moment that still defines toughness, belief, and what it means to compete at the highest level. History matters. Standards matter. #BC #MarchMadness

@bcatleagle All good coaches (I think??) but GMac also brings some P5 swagger. He played and coached at highest level and talent assessment is key. I don’t see Gallo’s zone D working in the ACC unless he has really athletic, really long players.

Thoughts on expanded list. IMO Gallo is still the best option. You get upside to sell to fans and recruits. You get a guy with an established scheme. Next would be Larranaga. I know he doesn't have head coaching experience, but the resumes of all the other guys have red flags.
Adam Zagoria@AdamZagoria

Sources: BC is trying to conclude its coaching search 'by the end of the week' John Groce, Luke Murray, John Becker, Gerry McNamara, Eric Olen. Eric Konkol. Jay Larranaga, John Gallo, Chris Gerlufsen involved. Some have interviewed on campus.

I said all along that Pitt will have a much improved team on paper next season. It just won’t matter. Even if he sneaks into the tournament, he probably won’t be back again. All of this has been a waste of time, and it will be for a fifth year now.

@bcatleagle It's pretty nuanced though...he inherited a winless ACC team, got to the tourney once, won 2 games, was robbed of a second appearance. Has had terrible luck with injuries etc. Plus his buyout is too big and recruiting class too good. Right decision for this year at least.

@timmy_daddy But Capel has had plenty of time. If he were the guy you wouldn't be having these discussions in Year 8.

@steelcitytim412 I think maybe just a couple minutes less. They would have had the option to go with a bigger rotation at times and had Roman, Dishon and Cam all on the floor at once.

Here’s an interesting hypothetical question that I am curious to see what the answers are… Roman Siluepa averaged 26.6 mpg this season. What would his minutes have been if Dishon Jackson played the entire season?

Heck of a season for Merrimack. Really thought this was the Warriors’ year. Gerry McNamara and the Saints had other ideas. Quite a comeback from Merrimack, but it wasn’t enough.

@bcatleagle There seems to be a strong consensus among Cuse fans that they want to move past the Boeheim tree. I think GMac would be an amazing hire for BC if they can get him.

@AbbySchnable Anyone who watched that effort today and thought “but now he might not get fired” ought to reevaluate their fandom. Lots of really shallow takes on this app with regard to Pitt hoops.

I’ve seen a lot of discourse today about Pitt’s win. You can celebrate a team showing fight and coming through in a game while still having legitimate concerns about the program. Giving credit for effort doesn’t erase the bigger picture. Nuance does exist, folks.
