@MonicaLMarks If 9 in 10 Catholics support the existence of Vatican City, then a movement to destroy it is anti-Catholic If 9 in 10 Muslims support the existence of Mecca, a movement to destroy it is anti-Muslim 9 out of 10 Jews support the existence of Israel Anti-Zionism IS Anti-Semitism

The Munk Debate on the motion “anti-Zionism is antisemitism” demonstrated, in my view, how poor debating tactics can further alienate an already hostile audience. The debate pitted Douglas Murray & Natasha Hausdorff (for the motion) vs Mehdi Hasan & Gideon Levy (against it). 🧵

@MattPaynePhoto Like I said. He is guilty of trespassing. He has already served more time than a max sentence for that crime. You think he is a traitor because you're brainwashed.

You haven't seen one video incriminating Chansley of anything more than trespassing. The guy was there. His only crime. He wasn't violent. He didn't destroy property. Guy was sentenced to four years for peacefully protesting.

@ShadowBannedUSA @alexnail @bilder_raum @elonmusk In a nutshell: Tucker got access to the videos. Tucker and his team cut and paste sections of the videos to tell a different narrative while leaving out the bulk that shows any incriminating evidence. Victims of confirmation bias cheer gleefully.

Post arrived, coffee is on and I'm going to love looking through this beautiful collection. Already jumped to P165, for some unadulterated self indulgence 😃 @natlandawards

@dalechris @MPLandscapes Arbitrary rules like this don't do anybody any favours. There may be some merit if you're trying to infer the photographer's skill and one image is not cropped and another is cropped to a quarter of its original size. The non-cropped image *may* imply poor craft (but not always)

@MPLandscapes Completely agree Mike, ultimately if competitions want certain rules to set their brand apart it's up to them and prospective entrants will vote with their feet, but the snobbery about fieldcraft vs creative choices in post reflect badly IMO.

@mikecurryphotos @wmdore_images @MPLandscapes Yes, but only after the fact - the waves (it's a coastal one) were exploding in different places and he was pretty near to the end range on his zoom tele. He backed the zoom off a bit to ensure he didn't miss anything but the wave he wanted needed more than the full reach anyway

@wmdore_images @MPLandscapes I should also add that the Wildlife Photographer of the Year used to have rules around cropping which we discussed at length and agreed to drop in the end. Especially in wildlife, the chances of you having the perfect telephoto prime is slim.

@wmdore_images @MPLandscapes However, like Mike says, there are so many valid reasons for it that we ended up awarding the image first place in a category...

@MPLandscapes I totally agree - there's a thousand valid reasons for a decent sized crop..

@mammuthus @jamesewer In which case it's more of a case of 1) there aren't many people of Brian and Alex's standards submitting UK work and 2) If there are any close, they aren't submitting their work (or their best work)

@mammuthus @jamesewer Well the one person a bit like Alex who entered managed to win one award and came second in another...

@mammuthus @jamesewer OK - can you point out some a few images (enough for me to recognise a different aesthetic) that don't fit the aesthetic you have identified and that should have done well in the competition?

@mammuthus @jamesewer I'm not implying that at all (although its a possibility). I'm just interested in what work you think should have done well that fits the "UK aesthetic" so I can have an idea what "UK aesthetic" means (difficult to know without a reference)

@mammuthus @jamesewer I built Joe's website for him so just had a look through and I could easily build an entry set that would have surely had him in the finalists. I'm seriously interested in what sort of photographs are UK centric that you think would have done well that we aren't seeing?

@RoamMtns I presume you were near the top of number three? Hoping to get on the NF later this winter... Have you been up No3 GB? I didn't realise it went at III. Looks entertaining!

I took this photo the other day whilst on Ben Nevis. People seem to like it on Instagram. What do Twitter folk think? The two climbers seem to be having a nice chat before finishing their route.
