What would a Reform government in Wales look like? If their leader's record is anything to go by, expect privatisation on steroids. Dan Thomas was once leader of Barnet council. And according to reporting from @pollysmythe featured in @WillHayCardiff's Substack newsletter, he proudly defended his record overseeing private outsourcing of public services worth hundreds of millions. Polling suggests it's neck-and-neck between Reform and Plaid Cymru in the race to lead the Senedd. Ahead of the vote on Thursday, @jameshh__ spoke to Will Hayward in Casnewydd Islwyn – the constituency where Thomas is running to become an MS – to learn more. 🚨 WATCH Plaid leader lose his cool with journalist as he tries to dodge key questions. Only Reform can stop another Labour and Plaid coalition on May 7.

The Burnham manifesto: •Rejoin the European Union •Break the fiscal rules to borrow more for defence. Thus destroying the fiscal rules… •Extensive devolution, including tax powers. •A wealth tax •Nationalise water, energy, utilities, and what remains of rail •A land value tax •A council tax revaluation •A ‘National Care Service’ •Rollout of nationalised bus franchising, modelled on Greater Manchester’s Bee Network •A £2 single fare bus cap •A fully elected upper chamber to replace the Lords •Bring in “free transport for teenagers in England.” •No welfare reforms. •Build more council houses. By borrowing £40 billion… •Scrap the whipping system in the Commons. An old favourite, truly barmy… •MAYBE: Proportional representation. Once behind the No10 door, people tend to lose interest in that one…

Half of Welsh nursing graduates can’t get jobs while Labour looks abroad for workers. How does that make any sense? Put our people first. Vote Reform this Thursday.

If you vote in the Welsh elections based on immigration, you are wasting your vote. The Welsh Parliament has NO CONTROL over immigration. It’s like ordering Deliveroo because your boiler has broken. One has no power to fix the other. I’m not saying you shouldn’t care about immigration as an issue, but electing people based on an issue they have no power to address makes no sense.

This is an interesting example of how the Welsh media doesn't tend to pick up comments reported elsewhere so they build a momentum. Dan Thomas made these comments a week ago in the @Channel4News Senedd debate but only now being given prominence 1/2

It would be a relief if Plaid win Senedd election, says Green leader bbc.in/4vTrWsw
