(1/5) Excited to share our new paper, “Improved 3D Markerless Mouse Pose Estimation Using Temporal Semi-supervision”, recently published in International Journal of Computer Vision.
Paper: doi.org/10.1007/s11263…

Check out our newly published paper in @eLife. In collaboration with the @evaaimable lab, we use a multi-camera array microscope (MCAM) to achieve cost-effective high-resolution, large-area "gigapixel" imaging of living organisms 📷. #video1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">elifesciences.org/articles/74988…

The deepest unintuitive disconnect w.r.t. psychology of ChatGPT is that it doesn't get "time to think". It has a small, fixed amount of thought for each output token. A bit like human forced to speak very fast. Asking them to produce more text is giving them more time to think.
Stanislav Fort@stanislavfort
I have been seeing takes claiming that ChatGPT "totally fails the cognitive reflection test" such as the "ball and bat problem". Tldr: I tried and it gets it right on the first pass, no cherry picking. You just need to tell it to think about it step by step

@CharlieReece @mpattonchapman @CityofDurhamNC @NCDOT With our luck the engineer would do a study, see that cars are routinely driving 70 mph (in what honestly should be a 25 mph zone) and then just raise the speed limit to 70 to match the natural flow of traffic.
English

@mpattonchapman @CityofDurhamNC @NCDOT The NCDOT engineer for our part of NC is named Brandon Jones, you can email him at bhjones@ncdot.gov and share your concerns about that intersection. 👍🏻
English

2nd major crash at our intersection in 24 hours—this one sent a car into our neighbors house (2nd time that happened in 5 years). This is ridiculous and scary. There is an elementary school on this block & kids crossing here an hour ago. @NCDOT @CityofDurhamNC @DurhamCouncil
English

@CharlieReece @mpattonchapman @CityofDurhamNC @DurhamCouncil Has the city taken control of any NCDOT roads before? What can we do to help make this happen?
I have personally witnessed two major accidents on Gregson and Markham/Urban (and I haven't lived here very long), including one with a flipped SUV.
English

@mpattonchapman @CityofDurhamNC @DurhamCouncil As long as NCDOT owns Gregson, they have the authority to determine what if any improvements are made at that intersection. But the city could take over responsibility for Gregson and do what it wants there.
PS — Our Durham City Council doesn’t have a Twitter account. 😬

(1/2) In collaboration with @timwdunn lab, COL introduces a low-cost multi-lens microscopic system that can extract diagnostically-relevant features from different sample regions.

@neuroecology Not an exhaustive history, but I really enjoyed Helmreich's "The Brooklyn Nobody Knows." amazon.com/Brooklyn-Nobod…
He also wrote Manhattan/Queens versions.

@blsabatini @MathWorks Seems like they were inspired by numpy array broadcasting, although there are additional safeguards in numpy.
Found this blog post justifying the switch: blogs.mathworks.com/loren/2016/10/…
Also a follow-up addressing your example: blogs.mathworks.com/loren/2016/11/…

Any insight into why Matlab does this instead of throwing an error? This behavior led to some interesting bugs in my code. @MathWorks

.@NIHDirector w/ @lexfridman on NIH BRAIN Initiative: "I will not ever forget having the chance to announce that program in the East Room of the White House with @BarackObama, who totally got it and totally loved science... that's a gift."
English

@DurhamComplete There was talk of a two-way street solution when I moved into the neighborhood almost 4 years ago. Are we any closer to such a thing?
Seems the answer from the city is always just to blame NC DOT.
What can we do to help?
