Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

Yo debería tener a mi hijo conmigo. Jeff Bezos has $222 billion. If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could fund insulin in America for everyone who needs it plus free school lunch for every kid in Texas—and have plenty of money left over. And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.

🚨BREAKING: oracle fired 30,000 people by 6am email.. and in the same breath filed 3,126 H-1B visa petitions.. let me explain what's actually happening here.. an H-1B worker's visa is tied to their employer.. if oracle cuts them loose they have 60 days to find a new sponsor or leave the country.. they can't easily organise.. can't threaten to quit.. the visa is the leash.. oracle didn't just replace expensive workers with cheaper ones.. they replaced workers who could leave.. with workers who legally can't.. this isn't new.. disney did it in 2015.. made 250 american IT workers train their own H-1B replacements before severance cleared.. workers sued.. federal judge threw it out in 2016.. congress said nothing.. every corporate legal team in america saved that ruling to a folder.. oracle just opened the folder.. the H-1B visa was created in 1990 to fill genuine skill gaps america couldn't staff fast enough.. thirty-five years later it's the most elegant labour control mechanism ever written into law.. cheap workers AND workers who can't quit.. in one government form.. they told you AI was taking your job.. they meant it was giving them a better excuse.

@HistorianUSA1 I live in Texas, Houston- and every English only speaker I know has a job. There’s more to this story, maybe she’s not employable? Maybe she’s not qualified? Actually, most people in Texas had jobs, no matter what language they speak.

😡 Native-born Black woman in Dallas can’t get hired anywhere… because she doesn’t speak Spanish. She’s American. English is her first language. This is TEXAS. She’s asking the question out loud: “Why can’t I get a job in an English-speaking country because I don’t speak Spanish?” This isn’t “diversity.” This is straight-up replacement of American citizens in their own country. Watch her say it. Then tell me you’re not pissed.

@HQNewsNow Wow! It just sobering to hear and see how isolated from reality these actors are. Politics aside, its simply not that hard to get your Bc, marriage certificate or divorce- most are online. 3rd world countries can do it- all the time every day.

Meryl Streep: The SAVE America Act, if that passes, all the married women that have changed their names are going have to go to the registrar and prove who they are. Otherwise, when you get to the voting booth in November, you might be disqualified, because your name on your birth certificate doesn't match the name on the voting rolls. I think that women need to be heard

@anyonewantchips I don’t agree with ending birth right cotz however, under Trump’s definition all of hos children would be U.S. citizens since he is a U.S. citizen.

As the Supreme Court is poised to rule on Trump’s request to end birthright citizenship - it might be a good time to mention the fact that Ivana was not a US citizen when Don Jr, Ivanka & Eric were born, and Melania was not a US citizen when Barron was born.

My daughter's getting married in three months and her future mother-in-law keeps making comments about my "homemade" dress. When my daughter asked me to crochet her wedding dress, I was terrified but honored. Her fiance's mother has been dropping hints about "real" wedding dresses from "actual" bridal shops, like what I'm making isn't legitimate somehow. She keeps asking if we have a "backup plan" in case my dress doesn't work out. I've been working on this for eight months. The pattern came from a master crocheter on the Tedooo app who's made dozens of bridal gowns. Every thread was chosen carefully, every stitch counted twice, every measurement checked and rechecked. This isn't some craft project - it's a work of art. The train alone took six weeks to complete. Those pineapple motifs at the bottom? Each one represents hours of concentration and love. The fitted bodice required me to learn techniques I'd never attempted before, but I was determined to make something worthy of her special day. Yesterday my daughter had her final fitting and started crying when she saw herself in the mirror. "Mom, it's the most beautiful dress I've ever seen." She's going to surprise everyone at that church, especially her future mother-in-law. I can't wait to see the look on everyone's faces when she walks down that aisle.

Homeowner waits until construction job is nearly done—then calls ICE on 6 of her own workers. Woman even provides the ladder used by agent to detain men—who she owes $10,000 for 3 day job. "She called the damn law on us and now we're totally screwed!" men yell in Spanish. "They surrounded us!—They surrounded us!" Agents even left behind the workers' van with doors wide open—filled with thousands of dollars worth of tools. The arrest was broadcast live for about 30 minutes by a co-worker—identified as Bryan Polanco. "Seeing it is not the same as experiencing it," he explains. "I’ve seen many videos, and sadly today I had to experience it." At the end of the video he gets the woman who called ICE on camera: "It is the same woman. Tidying up the house, and still with hatred in her heart." The incident occurred in Cambridge, Maryland.
