Coincidentally this was the only good innings he had in his international career. Other than that, he wasted himself but at the same time he was a massive run getter for Trinidad and Tobago on the domestic scene.

My buddies Josh, Malik and I reunited today to attend Mr Errol Grant's funeral which took at Stanmore SDA Church. The funeral was good but emotional at the same time and yes I cleaned up due to d*******. I have nothing else to say!

@Stevenrowe25 The way how they they handle it was very unprofessional like even Tendulkar in the back end of his career after the hundred international century went to the same thing that Chanderpaul went through but the difference was Sachin had the double fairytale ending.

@tjaudain Many others would of got a longer rope then that 10 test innings so 5 or 6 tests that’s not very many for a champion player like he was he didn’t deserve to be dropped they should of handled it better he at least deserved a farewell test or series

The truth was Chanderpaul was dropped not forced to retired. It wasn't because of Lara's record, he was struggling to find his usual form especially at the age of 40, which ultimately led to his omission from the squad and subsequent retirement.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was forced to retire so that he could not surpass Brian Lara's record of total runs in Tests. The west-indies board did not want a person of an Indian origin being the highest run scorer, hence preferring a black guy to be at the top of the list.

Brian Lara retired at the top of his game he could have gone on for at least till the England series but he made the right decision by retiring after the 2007 World Cup.

Compare that to Brian Lara, who in his last 10 Test innings scored 634 at an average of almost 64 & at that time when he retired in 2006-2007, compared to 2015, he had Gayle, Sarwan & Chanderpaul in what was an average team. His last 10 Test innings he made 2 100s, a 200 & 50.
