These are SMO2 for an athlete I coach from a test Oct 11 and Dec 23 last year. We have found this style of displaying the data helpful (test = 6' stages 1' breaks to measure lactate). I was a caveman, these were the athletes ideas. @jem_arnold Have you used similar?

@andrew_flatt @feelthebyrn1 On a related note, I see variation between waking up with or without an alarm clock. With an alarm clock, I wait 4-5mins for HR to settle to a "normal range". An early wake up, 90mins before usual, tends to report a higher RMSSD than "anticipated". Does that makes sense?

@feelthebyrn1 The longer you’re up, additional factors start getting involved. I prefer treating it like a reactivity test. Capture ANS response to standing up at a set time (1-min). Like capturing post-ex HRR. Only repeat if poor quality. Re-taking to try & match with how we feel, not good.

Unstable HRV isn’t just noise, it generally reflects room for improvement. Daily LnRMSSD variation in elite vs sub-elite athletes: Triathletes: 6% vs 10% Sprint-swimmers: 5% vs 8% Rugby 7s medalists: 5% Healthy young adults: ~9-13%

@DRTEHughes @altini_marco Has there been a direct comparison of the trace quality produced by Polar H10 vs. Movesense vs. Frontier X/X2 vs. Withings BPM Core vs. Kardiamobile? Thx

I’ve been worrying a lot about my heart recently. In particular I thought I might be getting ventricular ectopic beats (PVCs) post exercise. New device arrived today. Kardiamobile. Relieved to see no PVCs and excellent trace. For piece of mind, priceless. Thanks @altini_marco

@feelthebyrn1 Thx G! Good call. I meant to go back & add more detail on sampling. Yes, sample immediately but also sample each minute after until lactate drops. For endurance athletes it's less of a prob, but for the more anaerobic, it's common to peak several minutes after the test...

A bit late, but hopefully worth the wait.. Chapter 7 is live Now we're getting to the fun stuff.. Utilizing the test results to identify strengths and weaknesses of the athlete & build an individualized "blueprint" for improvement. Hope you love it! alancouzens.substack.com/p/chapter-7-bu…
