According to some posts this started with few men from Qalaat al-Mudiq harassing women in the city & locals intervening leading to a brawl. The men went back to Qalaat & mobilized this mob. Al-Ghab has immense underlying tensions barely held together by its civil peace committee

It was a retaliatory raid, though its origin has yet to be clarified. The fleeing culprits are identified as coming from a nearby village and are expected to be arrested in the coming hours.
