@stumpteacher If learning is a respected event, and we are teaching kids about the proper ways to interact in formal vs informal registers (Ruby Payne), and since the virtual setting is an extension of the classroom, having high expectations for respect & interaction is totally acceptable.

My sons' schools (MS and HS) have required kids to leave cameras on for entire class periods during remote learning. I told them they can turn them off as needed and I will take the heat for that decision.

@pwsink @toddstarnes Teachers ARE asking for schools to be open. They miss their kids and it is much easier to engage students, correct misconceptions, and guide their learning when they are with them in the classrooms. Don’t generalize when you are not immersed in the world of education.

@Renee53211 @toddstarnes If “sitting on their butts” means attending hours an hours of workshops, re-creating lessons so that they could be taught face-to-face or virtual, and reworking their plans to engage YOUR children, then yes, some of that was while they were sitting.
