If you understand football tactics, the best pass in this situation is option 1. The player on the right wing is already at top speed and moving into open space, which means a through ball allows him to run onto it without slowing down while forcing the defenders to turn and chase. Option 2 might look attractive because it’s central, but that player is stationary and surrounded by defenders, so receiving the ball there would likely lead to immediate pressure or a loss of possession. Option 3 isn’t ideal either because the run hasn’t started yet, making the pass easy for defenders to anticipate and intercept. In modern football, the smartest decision is often to play the ball into space rather than directly to a player’s feet, and in this case releasing the ball early to the winger stretches the defense and creates multiple attacking possibilities such as a cross, a cut inside for a shot, or a square pass to teammates arriving in the box.

@AD_Hammer I think the comma denominator of our better defensive performances is Disasi. I wouldn’t drop him. I’d play him and Todibo. Todibo was outstanding last night. Mav was excellent too but Todibo for me gave a masterclass in defending.

If Summerville is back for Villa and we go back to a four - how the fvck does Nuno drop one of these CB’s. Dinos was unbelievable, got the goal and was immense - absolutely put everything on the line, particularly towards the end when we really needed it. Todibo for me was even better across the whole game defensively - so good on the ball for a CB and he’s become unreal in one on ones (now gives me the “you’ll never beat Des Walker” vibes). Disasi - quieter of the three last night but has been outstanding. A monster who has brought a calmness and confidence to the whole back four. As much as I want us to play a four at the back, I just don’t want to see one of these dropped. Also on Hermansen. Did not see why he came back in and have been expecting a howler every game since. Had no confidence in him whatsoever - but he has been slowly winning me over - he was excellent last night and is getting better and better. Lastly, a special mention for Nuno. He has tested me at times, especially the Brentford and Leeds selections. But I have always felt he has a special ability to improve players. But, still, how he has improved our CB and GK situation - from an abomination to something truly outstanding - deserves a fvcking statue.
