There is an opportunity for the community to drive this forward a new Trust Management model which is more decentralised and equally secure. I ended up hijacking @tlodderstedt's session on Trust Management in order to show a potential solution using DID-Linked Resources (DLRs)😄

Erinnert ihr euch noch an so 2009, als es überall diese Login mit Facebook Buttons gab? Und dauernd irgendwelche Leute, die darüber Schindluder auf euren Accounts getrieben haben? Ja also das bekommen wir bald wieder - von der EU. Heißt OpenID4VP und ist für unsere Ausweisdaten.

@LilithWittmann OpenID4VP wurde auch nicht für die EU geschrieben. Es ist ein offener, internationaler Standard, an dem wir schon vor eIDAS v2 gearbeitet haben. Die eIDAS Expert Group hat ihn im Vergleich mit Alternativen auf Grund der Offenheit, Einfachheit und Sicherheit ausgewählt.

Warum haben diese Unternehmen der EU wohl den Standard geschrieben? Die wollen doch nicht etwa unsere Daten?!

@LilithWittmann Nein, wie kommst Du darauf? Mein Co-Autoren, ich und die gesamte @openid foundation (openid.net) sind beseelt vom Ziel die Souveränität von Nutzer:innen über ihre digitalen Identitätsdaten mit guten technischen Standards zu ermöglichen.

@stebaur @mathieu_glaude @drummondreed @TimoGlastra But OpenID can be used to provide the credentials to proof your identity towards the party on the other end, providing an interface of your agents to your wallet (and the credentials stored in it). We talked about this in another session at #iiw.

@stebaur @mathieu_glaude @drummondreed @TimoGlastra Yep, you can set up an authenticated connection and do all kind of things with it, sending messages, ordering a ride, … OpenID cannot do this because it is not build for it. It’s an identity protocol. That’s why Stephen pointed out we were „comparing apples with oranges“.
