What Stanley Druckenmiller taught Michael Mauboussin (@mjmauboussin) about position sizing. "Position sizing was 70 to 80% of the game."

@dwhittemore I don’t think quality is the issue: 8 of the top 25 liberal arts schools, including the top 2 (Williams and Amherst). Honestly it’s probably scale. All are under 2,000 enrollment.

@tmarman Maybe? Need 1) a strategy that actually leads to winning on quality And 2) really good branding and marketing. Good storytelling on the brand.

We need more "ivy league" supply. It's going to be difficult to get the ivy league to expand itself with more uni's... Why doesn't someone create a university alliance designed to compete with it? Won't be easy, won't be overnight, but the sooner it starts...

Why should programming well qualify one to be a manager over programmers? Especially if the programmers work solo instead of in co-creating teams?

@chrislhayes For tech, the answer is easy: way too aggressive hiring for the previous 2 years. Stupid money was thrown around and now there has to be tightening of belts. On the other hand, hospitality in particular has started to rebound so jobs that were decimated are coming back.

What's the single best explanation for why some industries are so heavily cutting jobs and budgest (media and tech, particularly) while other industries are forecasting strong continued growth and hiring.

@davidfowl Would Razor components be your current rec for aspnetcore apps with some client-side rendering? I.e., I have a page now with data pushed from SignalR, and long ago might have used KnockoutJS or jQuery for data-binding

Inspired by seeing all of these vides about NextJS and react server side components, I want to show something that might not be as well known from the .NET world: You can write RazorComponents and render them in various modes: #dotnet #aspnetcore

Watching NextJS tutorials hearing developers talk about server-side rendering like it's a new discovery and I'm like:

People's facial features can give them apparent facial expressions that they don't actually have, and they'll be treated accordingly. We see this most clearly in the case of animals. Dolphins aren't smiling, but seem to be, so we like them. But this happens with people too.

@rgay I am not one to defend 8am meetings, but with distributed teams sometimes it's necessary. However, I believe WFH is the only thing that makes it palatable.

I'm sorry I didn't respond to your email - I opened it and started typing out a response, then I got distracted, then a week passed, then I realized I hadn't finished responding, then I got distracted again, then by the time I noticed again I was too embarrassed

@XboxSupport I was able to set up Xbox Series X, but then on day two it beeped, shut off immediately, and now won’t power on. Seems common. Any remedy before I send back? Can/how do I wipe my info if the device won’t power on (if it will be replaced and not repaired)?
