@Adityakrsaha This marquee match logic doesn’t apply to RCB, I guess. It’s meant for smaller teams that struggle to fill their stadiums not for RCB, where fans literally wait for hours on the website just to get tickets. Every RCB game is sold out.

This virus (keeping marquee matches in 2nd home) is spreading very fast in IPL.
Earlier, it used to be only PBKS then RR also started it, and now RCB has also joined them.
While it's great for that city which is called '2nd home' but the home city is actually taking a hit.

How the times have changed - if there is a new bidding now for any premium sport - the demand for Bengaluru will mug every other city maybe not except for Mumbai - which will be equal or marginally more.

A few observations from this as I look at the sheet shared
A) Interestingly Ambanis did not bid as Reliance. They used a name called Rathipriya. I am assuming it was named that way for maybe tax liability reduction
B) Bangalore seemed to be the most heated bids. Even the Ambanis bid for Bangalore and lost by 0.03 Million USD to Mallya
C) Conservative teams: KXIP and RR were the quintessential underdogs buying teams at 67 and 76 million. They had a good scouting program having talented youngsters who would go and play for India.
D) Valuation between 2008 and 2026
Sum of all teams valuation in 2008 was 723 Million. Today one of the teams in 2026 is going for 1.96 Billion . In less than 20 years the value of an average franchise has gone by 2000%
It's just amazing that Lalit Modi created all of this value from a sheet of paper. He doesn't get the amount of credit he deserves for conceptualising the behemoth that drives world cricket.
