Read this🧵from @gldivittorio. This week I had a prior authorization denied in part because it “wasn’t requested by the patient.” Their response to my request for (continued) treatment was to tell me, THE PATIENT, I hadn’t asked. In response to me asking. The system is broken.

In January I was diagnosed with a weird form of lacrimal cancer & while the US healthcare system being bad isn’t exactly a revelation, I want to give a glimpse at how that system actually functions from a patient & policy standpoint, along with legislative origins & options

However, my rule of thumb is to stay away from metaphors as much as possible and speak plainly. The people I work with are adults and deserve grown up communication If they find their own metaphors, great I'll use them
