@SpfldHistorian @edmundward1 Thanks for posting. I've always wondered about the placement of the Barney home and carriage house. I pass this spot several days a week on my walk in Forest Park.

This is the layout of Everett Barney’s home and carriage house with better lighting for @edmundward1 As indicated earlier, this is taken from a plate of Forest Park in the 1899 atlas of our town.

@mnolangray @yitgordon Just finished a 3-day stint in DC and had the same pleasant experience on Metro. Rode it numerous times, never waited more than 6-7 minutes for a train. Reliable service is all I ask for and I got it.

Since people mostly tweet about transit to share bad experiences, I'd like to say that WMATA was wonderful these past three days. I don't think I ever waited for more than 10 minutes for a train, cars and stations were all clean and orderly, and the buses were all on time.

Corruption - it's pretty simple. Is there a state anywhere in America where utilities aren't one of the most powerful lobbies and where there haven't been corruption scandals involving them? governing.com/now/why-are-st…

According to a note in pencil, this is our town in 1889. The print is small, but you’ll see many changes over the past 134 years. Note the North End’s Hampden Park on the riverbank where we raced horses and bicycles. East Springfield is vacant land as is the Island Pond area.

It's not enough to just revive the Baltimore Red Line LRT. We also need to change the governance structure of transit so that Baltimore and it's surrounding counties have greater local control of transit decisions independent of the State of Maryland. governing.com/community/revi…
