@TobaccoRoadGolf @golfgetaways Strantz did such a brilliant job with optical illusion that I spent the day on the tee saying “Man, I can’t hit it anywhere.” Then standing in the fairway and saying “Man, there’s lots of room out here”. So much fun, it instantly became one of my favorite tracks.

Really curious to see this when it’s finished. Strantz’s work at Tobacco Road is so singular that any latter-day architect has a really challenging dual-task: create something that measures up to the big course but doesn’t seem to be trying to outshine it. A fascinating project.

After creating just a handful of courses, in 2000, Strantz was named "Top 10 Greatest Golf Architects of All Time" by Golf Week. He designed only seven courses from scratch. Come play!
