Today marks 34 years of continuous abstinence and recovery from alcoholism and chemical dependency for me. I used to think I couldn’t have fun without it. Now, I can’t imagine ruining the fun I have now with it. I am not special, just stubborn in the right way. If you need help, then know that help is available. I checked into rehab at 6-2, 146 pounds. I was on IV drip for days and a day away from ICU. I prayed to die. Thankfully, those praying for me had a better relationship with God than I did at the time. Some told me I was hopeless and that I wouldn’t make it. I have. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s always been worth it. As long as you have breath, you have hope. Thank God for that. You don’t have to live this way any longer. It ends when you want it to. There is no search party being formed to save you. The journey home begins with just one step forward. My prayer is that you take it today.

Family, over the last 15 days we’ve met so many incredible people, families, and heroes who have served this beautiful country — each with their own unique story. Honestly, every time I hear one of their stories, I feel like a kid sitting in on story time — because it’s history, it’s life, and it’s lessons that I’m blessed to learn along the way. It’s truly an honor to mow for the men and women who have served, and as I get closer to the end of this tour, my heart is full of gratitude. By Sunday, I’m hoping to be in Georgia and Florida, and then I’ll be flying out to Alaska and Hawaii to bring this journey to a close. Thank you all for the continued love and support. This journey has been nothing short of humbling, and I can’t wait to meet everyone still ahead.
