@toddbuckone @vaporous_ford Ha, he's the guy that kept me from the final :). I don't think that can be punnished after the fact, that's on the starting officials to manage at the time. Maybe not?

@Alan_Couzens Hi Alan, how would you recommend a progression for this drill? I can't float to save my life and doing what Brad does in the video would result in immediate failure. Thanks!

@McKaleDavis I like to tuck my laces into themselves along the tongue of the shoe during races to avoid the untying issue!

Like many others I’ve found myself trying to get away from Nike products. I’ve landed on a couple of pairs of Adidas that I’m pretty happy with. Except I cannot keep the laces tied!! Is this something others have experienced? I’m hesitant to race in them.

@gamecockjoe @brady_h You've gotta train where you're at, not where your competitors are at 😉 Plus, a certain guy might not be racing GR Tri next year 🤷‍♂️

@Robin_Quon Again you missed the point. It’s a different challenge but not a lesser one. It’s a different kind of stress not a lesser one. Training time is comparable. Both require lots of miles. 5k more intense work and extra strength, plyos, etc

To novice runners, a marathon is often considered the ultimate challenge. A 5k is the entry event. But... running a good 5k is often much more challenging. You are riding a line, it's hard from the get go. It just shows are bias towards equating distance to challenge.

@brady_h @gamecockjoe 100%. And a good coach should work with their athlete to schedule around their life. Life stress influences the body just like training stress. If you don't account for that, You're setting yourself up for failure. Training should fit around life, not the other way around

@toddbuckone @gamecockjoe It certainly could, and I won't speak for him, but my desire to workout from one day to the next is influenced by life factors as much as it is the previous day(s) workout. Sleep, our son, etc...

@gamecockjoe @brady_h It sounds like your training plan isn't designed properly. If you're lacking the desire to work hard for a hard workout, that might mean you're working too hard on your easy days.

@brady_h I know what my problem is. It’s the lack of desire to do hard work when the motivation isn’t there. You’re right. I’ll do it anyway, but I fear that burnout is closer and closer.

@erinstrout Did you read the article? It says, "...highly unlikely that one meal (even if it’s a very large meal consisting of mostly unhealthy foods) is going to negatively impact long-term heart health." They basically say to eat to your heart's content! (As long as you don't have CHF)

@AlbertaGravel @StephenSeiler 1/2 I'm talking more about submax reps. Running a 1:15 400m and swimming a 1:15 100m are roughly the same physiological strain. Yet the rest for the run is 6x the rest for the swim.

Flying to Dallas tomorrow to give two 60min lectures to hundreds of American swimming coaches. I can barely swim but I am going to suggest they might possibly, maybe, sort of, be training a lot of athletes "wrong". This should go swimmingly 😅

Training intensity distribution for one athlete I work with who has improved their #VO2max from a mid-pack 53ml/kg/min to an elite 68ml/kg/min over the past 7 years... Zone 0 is < 115 bpm ! #IntensityIsOverrated

@karisjochen My fiancé told me the same thing. No watch during the ceremony...I guess my suit will just have to be long enough on the left sleeve to cover my entire hand because the watch is NOT coming off! 🤣 Are sleeves an option for you??

@Alan_Couzens Hi, Alan. I usually agree with your ideas, but maybe I'm misunderstanding this one. As a competitive amateur triathlete, I avg ~14h/w. Only a few times have I ever topped 20. I'm not sure 20 is necessary for performance at the amateur level. Interested to hear your take. Thanks!

@Matthew_Rupiper That depends greatly on their expectations. If their expectation is general health & fitness, ~2hrs/day. If their expectation is performance at the amateur level, ~3hrs/day If their expectation is performance at the elite level, 4+ hrs/day
