@DevineGospel You are more optimistic than me. Those Machado and Bogaerts contacts are going to be crippling. If they are this bad now, can you imagine how bad they are likely to be in 2 years? Probably unplayable.

@mark_a_bartlett The reality is that the Padres are going to be bad for a long time, especially having to pay a declining Bogaerts and declining Machado nearly $65 million per year starting next season for their age 34 to 40 seasons.

AJ Preller failed to address the starting pitching staff and that falls on him. We’ve got multiple $20 M+ arms on the IL with no clear timeline and the rotation hasn’t been properly reinforced. Instead we keep relying on injury prone past their prime pitchers and hoping it somehow works out in San Diego while key guys sit on the IL collecting paychecks. This new ownership group also needs to invest in starting pitching. I do believe AJ was limited before they arrived which led to a lot of bargain bin moves for the rotation. And we need updates soon on Musgrove and Pivetta because they’re desperately needed. There’s no postseason baseball without them

Padres about to be 12 and 23 last 35 games and now sit at 500 even. They are what they've showed last month plus. A 90 loss team with zero signs of improving as theyre getting worse by the game. They are minus 49 over those 35 games too. Literally bottom 5 team in the league!!

@realbrentreed It would be malpractice for Preller NOT to explore trades for Miller this Summer.

No one will want to hear this, but the Padres would trade Mason Miller if they were smart. The literal last thing this team needs is a closer, no matter how awesome he is. You could rebuild your entire farm system by trading Miller, Morejon, and King alone.

@realbrentreed Trading for Miller was short-sighted in the Padres had (and have) a near-elite bullpen without him. It’s like the kid holding an icecream cone and wanting to trade his rare $10 bill for another ice cream cone that he doesn’t need.

@seattle_wayne That’s the risk I suppose but I’ll just say this. Last year early when Perez was struggling, his xSlug was like .530, so you knew better days were coming. This year, he’s sligging .332 with an xSlug of only .388, so a big improvement is less likely.
