Hi Everyone, Today we're digging into the performance and information requirements that Ecodesign products must meet to comply with the regulation. Here are the key points: Digital Product Passports (DPP): Information must include at least the DPP information requirements which contains essential data about the product Substances of Concern: Information must include details on substances of concern used in the product Product Performance: Information must include the product’s performance like repairability, durability scores, and environmental footprint. End users must have access to guidelines on installation, use, maintenance, and repair End-of-life Information: Include information about disassembly, reuse, refurbishment, recycling, or disposal Accessibility: Information accessible in one or more  formats like the product itself, product’s packaging, labels, user manuals, or online platforms The goal of these requirements is to enhance the sustainability of products by providing end users with the information they need to promote a circular economy in the EU.

Hi Everyone, Over the next few weeks, we'll dive into the specifics of the ESPR regulation, starting with the Ecodesign product requirements. The Ecodesign requirements encourage companies to design products that reduce their environmental impact. The legislation lists 16 product aspects, but we’ve summarized them into 5 major themes: Durability: Long-lasting products. Repairability: Easy to fix. Recyclability: Designed for recycling. Energy Efficiency: Uses energy effectively. Resource Efficiency: Minimizes material use and waste. Furthermore, the regulation mandates that these requirements prevent products from becoming prematurely obsolete due to design choices, such as using inferior components or the unavailability of spare parts and repair information.

Hi Everyone, Last week we introduced the ESPR legislation and identified which products were in scope. This week we’ll focus on the key parts of the legislation and which industries it targets first. The ESPR is comprised of three main pieces of legislation that businesses must comply with to sell their goods in the EU. Ecodesign Requirements: Introduces ecodesign requirements that products must meet to be sold in the EU. These requirements cover aspects like durability, repairability, recyclability, energy efficiency, and premature obsolescence. Digital Product Passport: Mandates creating a digital product passport to track and provide information on the sustainability of products throughout their life cycle. Prohibition of Destruction of Unsold Products: Prohibits the destruction of unsold consumer products (i.e. textiles and footwear). Businesses are required to disclose information about discarded unsold products. In the coming weeks, we’ll delve further into these key topics to better understand how they impact US businesses selling in the EU.

Hi Everyone, For our next post, we're going over the goal of the ESPR and what products are affected by it. The ESPR’s goal is to increase products’ durability, repairability, recyclability, and energy efficiency, and reduce their environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. The regulation applies to all physical goods placed on the market or put into service in the EU. This includes components and intermediate products but excludes products covered by other EU legislation. Exemptions include: - 🍔 food - 🌽 feed - 💊 medicinal products (human and veterinary) - 🐄 living organisms - 👯 products of human origin - 🌱 reproduction products (plant and animal) - 🚗 vehicles However, consult your legal team to understand if your products fall under these categories. Next week we'll discuss key pieces of the legislation and what industries are affected first.

Hi Everyone, We’ve heard from several US businesses that sell goods in the EU that they’re unsure how the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) will affect them. Over the next several weeks we’ll share content to help you get up to speed on the legislation and understand how it will impact your business. For our first post, let’s start with a brief history of the ESPR. The ESPR is part of a series of initiatives to help meet the EU’s climate-neutral goal by 2050. This is outlined in their broad initiative called the EU Green Deal which was adopted on December 11, 2019. On March 11, 2020, the EU adopted its New Circular Economy Plan, one of many initiatives within the EU Green Deal. Next came the adoption of the Sustainable Products Initiative on March 30, 2022, which paved the way for the ESPR. On July 18th, 2024 the EU signed the ESPR into law to help the EU meet its climate and sustainability goals by creating guidelines to make products more sustainable. Later this week we’ll go into why the legislation is important and who’s affected by it.

Hi Everyone, Welcome back to Week 4 of our Blockchain Bytes segment! Last week we went over tokens now let’s discuss what allows us to manage these digital assets. Blockchains have wallets that are used to hold the various tokens created on the network. A blockchain wallet is similar to wallets in the real world. It holds IDs, membership cards, cash, etc. Wallets are best thought of as an account on a blockchain network. They are similar to accounts on other online platforms where you log in to access your assets or see your activity. However, what makes these accounts different is that you can use the same account across different applications on the same blockchain network. Much like you can take your real-world assets to various businesses for different uses like buying, selling, transferring, and lending with your assets. That concludes our Blockchain Basics segment. Next week we’ll start diving into actual use cases for this technology. Let us know in the comments what you think of this video and any suggestions for other blockchain concepts you’d like for us to discuss!

We're back for week 3 of Blockchain Bytes! We teased this last week with our discussion of digital assets, so this week we’re discussing the main types of digital assets, or tokens, that exist on the blockchain A token is an asset on the blockchain that can be created, transferred, and destroyed. Tokens come in three different types: - fungible (or exchangeable; think currency) - semi-fungible (or both exchangeable and unique; think white t-shirt) - non-fungible (or unique; think VINs) Fungible tokens are currencies that can be traded and swapped for other currencies much like trading dollars for euros. Semi-fungible tokens are both fungible and non-fungible much like a white t-shirt can be exchanged for another white shirt but once you keep it, it becomes uniquely yours. Non-fungible tokens are like VINs which we use to uniquely identify vehicles. Let us know if you thought this was helpful and feel free to suggest other blockchain concepts!

Hi all, We're back again with week 2 of our Blockchain Bytes segment! Last week we went over what is a blockchain. This week we focus on what is a smart contract. Smart contracts are programs that generate events on the blockchain. These events include creating, transferring, and destroying digital assets. Smart contracts behave similarly to other programs you use like online payment flows. A smart contract contains business logic that’s initiated once parameters are met. For example, say you want to purchase a digital asset. In order to buy the digital asset you must meet two parameters. Those parameters are 1) having the funds to purchase the asset and 2) approving the transaction. Once met, the smart contract transfers ownership to you. Just like when you buy a product from a store. The retailer transfers ownership from them to you. youtu.be/HQGVvt29Fhk

For our first week, it seems fitting to start with what is a blockchain. A blockchain is as the name suggests a chain of blocks linked together. These blocks hold batches of transactions and are created every few seconds (or faster!). These transactions can be as simple as sending someone money or as complex as a loan. Once the blockchain processes the transactions, it adds the new block to the previous block to extend the chain. This is like a weekly reporting process that aggregates all the activity from the prior week and is added to a folder with the previous reports. Let us know if you thought this was helpful and feel free to suggest other blockchain concepts you would like us to explain! #Blockchain #web3adoption #EnterpriseArchitecture

dApps do not have the data they need to grow sustainably. to offset this, they rely on airdrops and points programs to attract users. the result? low-impact communities who use the product for the wrong reasons. Camp is the world’s first identity layer, aggregating Web2 social data onchain. with our modular identity layer, users can own and monetize their data, and dapps can build UXs that truly resonate with their target demographic.
