@navdeezi @mistressdivy You also never need to worry about getting kicked out (assuming you make your mortgage payments) and you can do whatever you want whenever you want Literally the only disadvantage is you’re far less mobile if you end up getting shitty neighbours. But most people are decent

@mistressdivy Renting is throwing money away. By owning you're gaining an asset over time. You can borrow against that asset. You can write off certain things.

@RizWanKenobi_ @dbsb3233 The overwhelming majority of North American neighbourhoods have those things within a 5-10 minute drive of where you live

@dbsb3233 Grocery is just an example. There are other things, like popping down to your local pub or independent cafe. A concept neighbour haters like you probably don't understand.

@mattforney Their argument is you should have to go to the grocery store every day. So instead of wasting ~1.5 hrs a week getting groceries you’re spending ~30 mins every single day It makes sense once you ignore the fact you’re spending over twice as much time at the grocery store!

@Hugh_might @RuairiAodh @DeeCeeGrayson @bornposting Your definition of the term is nonsensical then, the geography hasn’t changed, you seem to be confusing geography & politics/ military occupation. No one in their right mind would ever claim Iceland which is ~1200km away was ever part of the British isles

@kkwartjr @yuki_white12 Sometimes it is cheaper even after the exchange rate because of our insane taxes. But that’s why the CBSA will charge you $ at the border if you buy high value items For things like a switch though you can claim it was a gift from a US friend

@yuki_white12 non-oomf u should have seen me talking about the switch 2 they were telling me to just drive over the border and buy it in the US .. as if that changed the price for ME

Why is that every time I complain about prices (which is my right) someone always has to respond “well in the USA” I’m not in the states I’m Canadian!! Our book prices are higher! Let me complain in peace!!

@Hugh_might @DeeCeeGrayson @bornposting It’s just the name of the archipelago Regardless I’m sure you can understand now why Canadians would be upset by being called “American” despite sharing the continent. You aren’t “British”, we aren’t “American”

@tom__mars @DeeCeeGrayson @bornposting It's not a geographical term Boris. And that's Britannica, which is wrong in a bunch of ways. Ireland is not in the British Isles. x.com/Hugh_might/sta…
Only Huuuuuuuugh🍥@Hugh_might

@RetrolutionGam1 @RuairiAodh @ReformedMedia_ @Steve_Laws_ Britannica is wrong in a variety of ways. 1. The Channel Islands are in the British Isles. Have been for centuries. 2. They have the names of countries wrong. 3. Ireland is not in the British Isles. Hasn't been for ages.

@Hugh_might @DeeCeeGrayson @bornposting It’s a geographical term. Just because someone is born in the British Isles doesn’t necessarily make them “British”. Likewise someone can be born in North/South America and not be “American”

@DeeCeeGrayson @bornposting Except no one in Canada would ever call ourselves American. It’d be like claiming someone from Ireland is British just because the island chain is part of the British Isles Besides the # of continents varies by culture, from 3-7. In North America we split the Americas in 2

@Lainezor @RockyTopOtaku They claim the loopholes are there on purpose, kind of like a test from God to see how clever they are. So finding and exploiting them is kind of the whole point Which is also why so many of them go on to become lawyers

@JacCymro1400 @nonregemesse Lefties support policies that cause energy prices to skyrocket which kills industry, then you bemoan the loss of said industry. Canada has roughly half the UK population and yet we produce 3x as much steel because our energy policies aren’t suicidal

@JacCymro1400 @nonregemesse If that was in any way true then why are there countless capitalist countries with steel industries that are doing just fine? You people support shooting the country in the face then act as if you were compelled to do so by some mystical force. It’s absurd.

@BarryLyndon89 @nonregemesse Cutting taxes helps real people. Sovereign wealth funds are useless for almost the entire time they’re in effect. Their sole purpose is to be an emergency cash reservoir and given the UK’s ever increasing deficit the government would have totally drained it to £0 long ago

@run_guns I used to work in the hood and it was interesting to see how like ~70-80% of them were just outright awful and actually liked being homeless because they had no responsibilities. But the minority were ACTUALLY down on their luck and absolutely hated the majority

Canada and Toronto could dream big. This is my vision for Toronto’s new ALTO high speed train station at 1 Front St W, directly connected to Union Station next door. Although, too ambitious for Toronto, we could only dream. @altotrain @Transport_gc @MarkJCarney @MayorOliviaChow

@Michael56297223 @jen_keesmaat Yep i stg none of the people advocating for these ideas have ever used transit. If they had they’d know every line into the city is 100% packed. So this fantasy of “oh the drivers will just take the train!” Is total bs

@OkamaKichigai @TheChaosWeeber The UK did invade though, they were the ones who sacked DC They reason it ended is they were just tired of fighting after waging war against Napoleon for ~15 yrs They beat the crap out of the US, secured all their objectives and left as victors
