The Architect Alliance (TAA) is advocating for a significant overhaul of the architecture laws in our country, which have become outdated and restrictive. Currently, the architectural profession faces a divisive issue where professionals without a specific registration number from the Board of Registration for Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQ) are pejoratively labeled as "quacks," regardless of their qualifications or experience. This includes those with a B.Arch degree, a Bachelor of Architectural Studies, a Diploma in Architecture, or those serving as Architectural Technologists. During a recent public forum, a poignant question was raised by a prominent architect: "Who is a quack?" This led to the realization that in many circles, 'quack' refers to anyone not registered with BORAQ, even those who have completed the rigorous six-year B.Arch program. This scenario underscores the need for change, highlighting how current regulations fail to acknowledge the diverse educational backgrounds and substantial experience of many in the field. TAA proposes a legislative amendment aimed at modernizing architectural practice laws. The core of this proposal is to grade and register architects based on both their level of education and practical experience. This would ensure that the scope of work for each architect is clearly defined and aligned with contemporary industry standards, promoting fairness, recognition, and professional growth. By addressing these issues, we aim to bridge the gap between academic qualifications, practical skills, and legal recognition, thereby fostering a more inclusive, dynamic, and respected architectural community. This reform not only seeks to recognize the talent and dedication of all architecture professionals but also to adapt to the evolving demands and innovations within the industry.

@akibaru ...the dark corridor around the bedroom area, a common bathroom that "invades" the private bedroom zone (consider a second WC for guests?), and the bedroom 1 window adjacent to the entry porch compromising privacy could do with some improvements?

@tom_sitati Very true. The combination of the high initial cost and the need for frequent battery replacements significantly impacts the feasibility and affordability of transitioning to an off-grid solar system.

@BuildersCK Going off grid is not yet cost effective. Both the initial CAPEX and recurrent replacement cost, specifically for batteries, makes the switch prohibitive. Electricity is expensive, but solar is actually not really cheaper, if one is going fully off grid.

Good people, any experiences with going entirely solar? What are the pros and cons? What's the cost?
