Its unfortunate that the wrecking ball that knocks down the old, rotten house rarely lasts to enjoy the fancy new one. Dave broke alot of eggs & cracked alot of skulls to get the club a fresh start, if (i believe when) those actions bear fruit he should be the 1st one thanked.

@SilentGhost263 That very well may be true but I just don’t think they leave if they believe in the system, the leadership of the club or the future. They’re not leaving for TDK like money.

@tombomb09 i think its less about 'seeing light at the end' and more about them being around to be a part of it. i think they're running from hard work, they don't want to or are incapable of doing the work and want another team to gift it to them, its why they're going to Brisbane.

@SilentGhost263 No, I actually agree with that, you don’t want that example for young players. Merrett should never have been captain (or given a pay rise last year). But I don’t believe we would be in the position we are in if those senior players could see light at the end of the tunnel.

@tombomb09 i think they're leaving because they understand that theres far too much hard work to be done for their liking and theres a boat load of Kids willing to do it coming for their spots. my question is do you want those players setting examples for the kids coming through? i don't,

@SilentGhost263 Yep, all those things are facts (Murphy aside, the whole medical and hp team had changed since Barham came in…working beautifully). I’m not expecting us to be winning 13 straight but the injuries paper up the cracks. Obvious cracks.

@tombomb09 we were the youngest team in the competition all last year even with Todd Goldstein having to play 16 games and now our 3 oldest players have been moved on. we also had 18 Injuries! mostly to best 23 players!! we'll likely be *the* youngest team in the competition next season.

@SilentGhost263 All appropriate criticisms. Do you think, lazy or not, those players would be leaving if they believed in what the club were building?

@tombomb09 i would and have, Merrett probably the exception but hes never been one to bring others along or set a culture, frankly the opposite. i have multiple times criticised Draper and Ridley for being lazy, underdone, unfit or simply unwilling to do the right thing on and off field.

@tombomb09 ITS THEIR CULTURE!!! they're the senior players!!!!. they're the ones who established it and are now abandoning ship because things are tough. You cannot say any of the young kids coming in under Scott are half as fragile or lazy, they're the future, not the scurrying rats.

@tombomb09 yea and how much did we lose by again? oh thats right, TEN GOALS!! IN THE RAIN. do you seriously think we were a competitive team?? they want out for the same reason they were a middling team, they quit when it gets a bit tough and don't want to do the extra work to be great.

@SilentGhost263 No, but nor am I happy with a culture so poor that senior players and the captain have lost belief. That’s not a problem from three years ago. That’s them sitting here today and saying, these guys aren’t the answer.

@tombomb09 the club is rebuilding because Zach and those alongside him took the club nowhere in their time and fostered a lazy, toxic culture. or are you happy floating between 8th and 15th every single year? absolute loser mentality, don't want to endure the hard times to actually win.

@SilentGhost263 We played finals in 2021. If we were a middling club then id love to know what we are now that our best players want out of the place!

@tombomb09 yea because the list, the players and the staff from prior regimes were horrific and burnt the club to the ground. we were a middling club with zero prospect of winning anything, Barham and Scott rightfully tore down the whole rotten thing. because thats what it was, Rotten,
