ChatGPT just announced that you can integrate your products directly with its platform.
You can now get your products indexed, ranked and displayed inside ChatGPT with live prices and availability.

OpenAI recently announced that users will be able to buy directly from Shopify and Etsy sellers.
They also announced they are open-sourcing the technology behind Instant Checkout, known as the Agentic Commerce Protocol, so more merchants and developers can build integrations.
Many people are calling this a “Shopify moment” for AI, but it goes deeper than that.
Uploading a product feed alone is not enough.
If your site structure, authority, and content are not already optimized for AI discovery, ChatGPT will not surface your products.
OpenAI Product Feed Spec
OpenAI’s Product Feed Spec defines how merchants share structured product data with ChatGPT.
Think of it as a Merchant Center feed for AI search.
When ChatGPT receives your product data in a structured format, it can display your listings with accurate titles, prices, availability, and images directly inside chat.
Feed setup process
Prepare your feed in CSV, TSV, XML, or JSON format.
Include required fields such as product ID, title, description, price, and availability.
Deliver the feed to OpenAI’s endpoint.
Update the feed whenever prices or inventory change.
However, the feed only works if your site content and schema are clean.
Key feed sections
OpenAI flags
Two settings control visibility:
enable_search allows ChatGPT to surface your products in search results.
enable_checkout allows users to purchase directly inside ChatGPT.
You must enable enable_search before enable_checkout can function.
If your site is not indexed or trusted by ChatGPT, enabling checkout alone will not help.
Basic product data
Every product requires:
id as the unique SKU.
title written clearly and naturally with no all caps.
description as plain text up to 5,000 characters.
link pointing to the canonical product URL.
If titles, descriptions, or canonicals are inconsistent, ChatGPT may fail to parse the feed correctly.
Item information
These fields describe what the product is:
brand
category
material
condition such as new, used, or refurbished
weight
dimensions
age_group
Accurate categorization helps ChatGPT classify your product correctly.
Many ecommerce stores mislabel categories or use inconsistent formatting, which limits visibility.
Media assets
This is where many brands fall short.
You should include:
image_link for the main image.
additional_image_link for supporting images.
video_link or 3D_model_link when available.
ChatGPT favors listings with clear, high-resolution media.
Feeds with broken or low-quality image links are often excluded.
Pricing and promotions
Pricing fields include:
price with currency code, for example 79.99 USD.
sale_price when applicable and lower than base price.
sale_price_effective_date for discount windows.
Feeds refresh every 15 minutes.
Availability and inventory
Required fields include:
availability such as in_stock, out_of_stock, or preorder.
inventory_quantity indicating remaining units.
availability_date for preorder items.
Feeds that claim in-stock while linking to unavailable products lose trust quickly.
Freshness and accuracy matter here more than anywhere else.
Variants and groupings
Products with sizes, colors, or styles must use item_group_id.
For example, 1 running shoe model with 10 size and color variations should be grouped together.
Without grouping, ChatGPT treats variants as unrelated products.
Reviews and Q&A
ChatGPT values review data.
Include:
product_review_count
product_review_rating
store_review_count
store_review_rating
q_and_a
Most stores fail to implement review schema, which limits trust and visibility.
Merchant and returns information
OpenAI requires:
seller_name and seller_url.
Privacy Policy and Terms of Service URLs if checkout is enabled.
Return policy URL and return_window measured in days.
Missing policies prevent in-chat purchases.
Why this matters
The Product Feed Spec defines how to get indexed, but formatting alone does not guarantee visibility.
ChatGPT prioritizes structured, authoritative, and trusted sources.
If your content, links, and schema are weak, your products will not rank even with a perfect feed.
