“Force Rodri to play as a center back” as if Spain had Sergio Ramos, Piqué or Puyol in 2022. The CB pairing options to Laporte then were Eric Garcia and Pau Torres. So basically Rodri was more useful because he could help in CB while stepping into midfield to share Busquets’ old ass responsibility in CDM. He outperformed him in every game despite having more tasks. After the 2022 World Cup, Busquets retired and it’s fucking 4 years later with Spain losing only 2 games since Rodri became the midfield pivot. Ultimately Busquets cost Spain the 2022 World Cup with his “press resistant” gimmick😂

Harry Kane wins this for me and it isn't even close. Messi had an outstanding World Cup. Nobody is denying that. But the Ballon d'Or is not a World Cup award. Your club season still matters, and Kane simply did more across the whole year. Mbappé? Great individual numbers, but no major trophy. Messi? Brilliant internationally, but his club campaign was nowhere near Ballon d'Or level. Kane won major trophies, delivered goals almost every week, created plenty for his teammates, and then capped it off with a fantastic World Cup where he led England deep into the tournament. If you combine club form, trophies, goals, assists, consistency, and World Cup performances, Harry Kane ticks every box. This should be one of the easiest Ballon d'Or decisions in years. Anyone saying otherwise is judging with emotions, not football.
