When I said Alayo's accountability and smartness is her biggest attraction for me, I knew what I was saying. Look at how she opened a book on top ordinary rice sharing task. She does whatever task you give her to do very meticulously and she will always give you an impeccable account of her dealings afterwards. That is why I like to refer to her as my ever indefatigable account officer. Kudos to you, @Aunty_Akanke. Keep on being you.

Last night, I disbursed the sum of ₦500k as Christmas gift to some people I'd pencilled down earlier. 24hrs later, more than half of them are yet to acknowledge receipt. Some just sent "thanks" on WhatsApp. Only two people called to show appreciation and pray for me. The least amount anyone got was 20k. I presume 20k is too small in the opinion of those who kept quiet after getting credit alert. Our people's sense of entitlement stinks. We are learning everyday sha. I kúkú have intention of buying a house from @SirJarus in 2024. It's time I became stingy and mean henceforth. I am not owing anyone money. We dey give just because we are kind, not because we are rich yet. But henceforth, I will be treading ọ̀dàjú lane so house money can be completed on time. New motto: Dájú, k'ówó lè tètè pé.

I think it's relative. We just need to be discerning in our spirit before lending out our money to people. I loaned someone £4000 early this year when he needed to extend his visa and he paid me back at the promised time. He actually reached out to me to and asked for £1000 loan. I asked him what he wanted to do with it, he said he wants to renew his visa with that of his family. Of course I know he will need more than £1000 for visa renewal. I simply asked him how much exactly does he need and he said 4k. I loaned him the whole 4k and he didn't fuck up. He refunded me. On the contrary, someone also reached out to me sometime in February for just £500 loan. My spirit told me it won't end well. I simply told him I don't have up to £500 at the moment as I'd just sorted some expenses back home. I further said to him that I can afford to loan him £100. Dude hasn't refunded my £100 till date. He doesn't even call me again. Just three days ago, borrowed someone ₦500k. I did it because my spirit was at peace to do it. And I even told him he can refund it anytime it is convenient for him. I found help when I needed help and I will keep paying it forward and not stop helping my friends when they also need help too. But I'll always follow my spirit's leading before giving out my money.

The have bicycles, scooters, iPads and lots of toys. In fact, there is no space for toys again in their bedroom. I'm seriously blank in idea of what to give them as Christmas present. I plan to set up the Christmas tree this weekend and their wrapped gifts are meant to be under the Christmas tree, though they won't open it until Christmas day.

My first housekeeper in Accra was a wonderful lady for the first couple of years. She was recommended by someone else on the property. She learned how to make Nigerian food and doubled as a cook. Organized everything perfectly until one day I saw her tired and asleep on the floor

@amuta_ann I had exactly the same feeling interviewing students to join my lab this Spring. I never cease to share my own story with my international students and assure them It gets better. Congratulations on your NIH grant.

Father's day is coming up on Sunday and there was another fundraiser in her school. Guess who still had to drop the money? You guessed right—it was me. I gave my daughter money to buy gifts for me for Father's day celebration, just like I did also during Mother's day celebration.

My heart is shattered into many pieces. I just got the sad news now that the boy we raised funds for a corrective heart surgery last year passed on overnight. The valve that was worked on by the doctors became widely opened & complications arose. May God comfort his parents. 😭💔

Completely understand Primary 5 pupils ceremoniously graduating to higher classes. But, what is this complete and utter nonsense of Nursery pupils 'graduating', even ceremoniously, to primary classes that schools have now normalised?

I haven't done badly at all this year. So far, I've read 17 books in 2021. I set a target of 25 for myself. If no one praises me, I'll praise myself. I pray a circumstance beyond my control won't pop up again for the rest of the year.

Naomi Osaka withdrew from the French Open for mental health reasons. She alleged not to be a natural public speaker, and get anxious before speaking to the press. I knew she won't last long at #RG21, but I never saw it coming this way. IMO, Osaka has apathy for clay court

I've said it before & I'm saying it again. I'll really be impressed if Osaka makes it to 2nd week at RG. Clay is her worst surface. To me, she already sees an early exit before her, otherwise why this antics of avoiding press conferences? Would she have done same on hard court?
