Reading is so powerful now because, in a culture of doing so many things at once, it's stubbornly singular, when you're doing it you can't do anything else, you can't think about anything else, it demands all of you

Just patiently waiting for my parents’ last born to be set free so we can collectively celebrate our emancipation as a family. We’ve really really seen things fr

Omds yes!!!! “Nobody forced you, you chose the school” Did we? Did we really??! Choosing a uni in Nigeria as far as I’m concerned is just a case of picking your poison And these private unis know. They know! And it makes them do crazier and crazier things with such audacity
Jola@Jollz

The heavy handedness and bullying, paternalistic nature of Nigerian private universities is a direct result of the decline of public universities. Parents and students are willing to enforce all sorts of indignities because they don’t have options or recourse.

The problem with a good book is that you want to finish the book but you don't want to finish the book

I’m even scared to say public libraries will be the solution to providing more access to books, because I know my people. People will borrow and not return or return books in terrible conditions Our problems are deeper than we think and piracy most definitely isn’t the solution

You should have access to knowledge. However, you are not entitled to the intellectual labour of people for free simply because you cannot buy it. If someone gives it to you, good for you. But coming online to defend widespread piracy is not asserting your right to knowledge. It is wilfully demanding unpaid labour from others, something many of you defending piracy publicly are against. You don’t care about the knowledge producer. You don’t care that you are not only participating in extracting knowledge from people who have no intentions of providing that knowledge to you for free, aka stealing, but you are also encouraging that same stealing on a larger scale. You only care for your own need to access knowledge no matter who is harmed by it. And seeing as I have seen the opinions of some of you on other things, I know that it is not your nature to demand the unpaid labour of others, so I ask that like in all things where you show ethical care for the actual people harmed, you should also show ethical care for the writers and knowledge producers whose works you desire to access. I’m not even saying “stop pirating and buy books immediately.” I’m saying introspect, recognise the harm you are doing by championing piracy publicly and do what you know to be right.

I’m seeing the most derogatory statements around the value of literature and the motives of writers/ whether they deserve to make money from their work in a bid to defend and explain piracy. It’s cruel. Extremely.

Holidays, events and the spectacular are wonderful. But from now on, I’m more committed to working with God to improve the quality of my everyday, normal, day-to-day life; building deeper friendships, being with the Lord, enjoying my work and the gifts he has given here and now

The things I’m most grateful for in my life are the things I ordinarily would not have chosen for myself or aspired towards on my own Most of the people dearest to my heart are people I wouldn’t have thought I would even get on with So glad God is so much wiser than I am 🥹❤️
