The companies aim to market the system to European governments, with production potentially starting within 12 to 18 months if workers approve the shift. The deal would mark a significant return to weapons manufacturing for VW, which produced military vehicles and the V-1 Flying bomb for Nazi Germany to strike cities during the Second World War.
