BUILDING AI IN AFRICA Africa stands at the precipice of a historic transformation. Unlocking artificial intelligence (AI) is the ultimate catalyst to skyrocket economic development and social impact optimizing agricultural yields, scaling healthcare access, and building smart infrastructure across the continent. Yet, this monumental opportunity hangs in the balance because we cannot catalyze a revolution we are not equipped to lead. Africa faces a profound, dual-layered education crisis: only 14% of Africans have received any formal AI education, leaving the vast majority completely devoid of basic AI literacy. Compounding this, a severe technical bottleneck exists where only 7% of Africa’s software developers specialize in AI. Without baseline literacy for the general population and advanced mastery for tech professionals, the continent cannot optimize this digital window. The only way we can optimize this opportunity is by heavily investing in AI education at all levels. This urgency drives my mission to build Elevate AI Academy, destined to become the biggest AI academy in Africa. Our purpose is to bridge this critical AI information gap.
