I didn’t come early to technology. In fact, I started late—and stumbled more than once along the way. From floppy disks and DOS commands to smartphones that sometimes misunderstand me completely, I’ve watched technology change rapidly over the decades. But in the middle of all that change, I’ve noticed something: Some things endure. There is a continuity—a trackable progression—from where we started to where we are now. Technology doesn’t jump from A to Z. It moves step by step. And so do we. Keeping up isn’t about being first. It’s about not missing the steps. If you’ve ever felt behind, overwhelmed, or frustrated by how fast things change—this reflection is for you. 👉 Read the full Substack (with the “Keeping Up Grid” and coaching framework): open.substack.com/pub/tomsims... 👉 Read the companion Medium article (my personal journey with technology): @tomsims/i-didnt-c" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@tomsims/i-did…... 👉 Read the LinkedIn article (leadership focus): 📷 / staying-current-without-pretending-know-ev...   👉 More resources, coaching, and connections: linktr.ee/tomsims #Technology #LifelongLearning #DigitalTransformation #KeepLearning #PersonalGrowth #Leadership #ChangeAndGrowth #Adaptability #Innovation #WritersLife #Communication #WorkshopsToGo #TomSims #Reflection

You don’t have to be an expert on everything to lead well. In fact, most “experts” are still learning—just a few steps ahead, asking better questions, and paying attention to what matters most. In a world where technology, ideas, and systems are changing faster than any one person can master, leadership is not about knowing everything. It’s about staying current in the right ways: • Tracking the subject headings • Listening to the questions people are asking • Identifying credible, current voices • Building a thought team that sees what you don’t And perhaps most importantly… Asking the questions that keep you honest: ✔ Is there anything I should know? ✔ Am I missing something? ✔ Am I making decisions while ignoring my blind spots? We don’t have to know everything. But we do have to stay aware, curious, and connected. That’s how leaders keep climbing. #Leadership #LeaningLeadershipLadder #ExecutiveLeadership #BusinessStrategy #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #LifelongLearning #AdaptiveLeadership #Curiosity #CriticalThinking #ProfessionalDevelopment #LeadershipDevelopment #TomSims

Juana Inés de Asbaje y Ramírez de Santillana lived a truly notable life. She stands as a powerful example of strong womanhood and Mexican identity—centuries ahead of her time. Nun. Writer. Philosopher. Composer. Student of science. Poet of remarkable depth. A central figure in what is known as the Spanish Golden Age, she rose to the forefront among writers and scholars, contributing significantly to both Spanish literature and Mexican culture. Her gifts were recognized early. She was a prodigy—given unusual opportunities (for a girl in the 1600s) to study, learn, and fill her mind with great ideas. She mastered the classics, Greek, Latin, and theology. By the age of eight, she was already composing poetry—writing on the Eucharist. As a woman and later as a sister in the Order of St. Jerome, she continued to write, to serve the poor, and to think deeply. She also spoke boldly—advocating for the intellectual and spiritual dignity of women. That boldness came at a cost. She was eventually silenced and condemned by ecclesiastical authority for challenging the misogyny of her time. Still, her voice endures. This is a life worth bookmarking… and returning to. I will.

You can prepare for battle… but you cannot manufacture peace. “Safety is of the LORD.” (Prov 21:31) Have you looked up today? 👉@tomsims/you-can-prepare-for-battle-but-you-cannot-manufacture-peace-83915c0bcb0d?sk=ad0bed757eface8d185683e16849e657" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@tomsims/you-c… #BibleChat #Faith
