So did Flutterwave cheat on Ripple with Circle, or was this an open relationship all along? Because this is The Polygamist: fintech edition. On June 16, Ripple pays the dowry and RLUSD becomes the default stablecoin across Flutterwave's products. Barely a month in Circle, Ripple's biggest rival, moves into the same compound. Nobody even pretends to be surprised. And like every wife in that show, each one believes the arrangement favors her. Ripple holds the default slot. Circle holds the dollar merchants actually ask for, 47 times the size. Flutterwave holds the compound, and the compound was never for sale. It rents rooms. The seat I care about is the empty one. Every dollar settling into Nigeria still needs a naira leg, and @cngn_co, the regulated naira stablecoin, is standing outside the gate watching foreigners pay dowry for its own market. If I ran cNGN I'd be knocking on Flutterwave's door this morning. Circle, meanwhile, hasn't posted a word about its own deal. Make of the quiet wife what you will. The issuers are bidding. The rail keeps the book. 👇🏽👇🏽

We're open sourcing some reasonably decent software we use to make markets for @cngn_co Why? Because you, yes you, can become a geographic decentralisation maxi like us. And local stablecoins are actually an interesting way to achieve this. 🧵
