The real bottleneck in mid-market AI adoption isn’t the tech. It’s executive paralysis. Over the last few years, I’ve sat down with dozens of mid-sized enterprise executives. These are incredibly sharp, experienced leaders running highly successful legacy operations. They understand what the technology can do and they aren't Luddites, but they’re stuck between two conflicting narratives: - The Hype: The alarmist belief that their entire workforce and business model will collapse tomorrow if they don't pivot instantly. - The Reality: A legacy software stack and internal processes that they know inside and out. That operation keeps the lights on today and disrupting it could be a career killer. The result? Leaders are playing defense. They approve incremental, surface-level AI add-ons (like an LLM to summarize notes or build slide decks) while quietly biding their time. No one wants to risk a messy, fundamental architectural overhaul on their watch. But the conversation is framed wrong. AI shouldn't be introduced as an existential threat that wipes the slate clean. It’s an enablement layer for the legacy software many small and mid-sized companies already rely on. Companies don't need a total overhaul to see a return. If you're talking to your leadership team, stop framing AI as a revolution. Frame it as an upgrade to the foundation you already have. It's easier to digest and more affordable that way - and it won't kill your career.

The intensified militarization of Asia will have major impacts in the 2030s.

In a major push to solidify its presence in the Indo-Pacific, foreign ministers from the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (the Quad) , comprising the United States, Australia, India, and Japan , have announced a robust new suite of joint initiatives spanning maritime surveillance, critical infrastructure, and energy security. The strategic pivot signals a decisive shift toward tangible deliverables as the four-nation alliance seeks a unified front to counter China’s expanding economic, diplomatic, and military footprint across the region. To directly challenge Beijing's growing regional clout, the Quad unveiled plans to expand satellite, based maritime surveillance to track unauthorized naval movements and dark shipping. Furthermore, the alliance pledged transparent funding for resilient Pacific port infrastructure to counter high interest loans from China's "Belt and Road" initiative, alongside a clean energy supply chain program designed to reduce dependence on Chinese solar components and critical minerals. The meeting was marked by a sharp call for institutional urgency from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who insisted the alliance must move entirely beyond high, level dialogue toward concrete, measurable action. Rubio emphasized that the Indo-Pacific remains the defining geopolitical arena of the century, urging working groups to immediately deploy these initiatives to provide regional partners with immediate security and economic alternatives to Beijing. While the joint framework avoided naming China directly, a courtesy routinely maintained to accommodate India’s nuanced non alignment policy , the focus on vulnerable Pacific Island nations leaves little doubt about the group's intent. Officials confirmed that working groups have been fast, tracked to lay the groundwork for a formal Quad Leaders' Summit later this year, though a definitive date has not yet been locked in.

@TonyNashNerd I've started to get more hallucinations with Gemini and other models. Even Grok is less reliable. It seems the token rationing has begun. The same model gives different results based on the throttling.

📺 I'll be joining Al Jazeera "The Rest of the Story" in 30 minutes to discuss structural changes in the global economy; how interest rates, debt and inflation affect economies and markets globally; and what - if anything - Central Banks can do about it. 3-4pm Eastern time.
