@ASithLawd Like I said that is an entirely distinct discussion. Many people conflate their dislike of this story choice with a mistaken belief that it is impossible for her to go down this path.

@torisu845 It's probably *possible* but I think a lot of the backlash just came from the fact that it was an absolutely unnecessary plot point. Not to mention that they butchered the best character in Rebels

You don’t “become” force sensitive. Everybody is force sensitive. Some are just more sensitive than others. Sabine had extremely low sensitivity. This means she had to work harder to use the force. Lucas has talked about this extensively.
Marauder Matt@marauder_matt

I think the rejection of Sabine becoming force sensitive and this mocking idea that “anyone can use the force” is completely antithetical to what the force represents and the real world magic/mysticism that inspired it. Why would we ever look at the Force as something exclusive?

@ASithLawd That is a separate discussion from whether it’s possible for her to use the force or not

@torisu845 This is the wrong framing for this. Sabine was already a badass Mandalorian. Having her train to be a Jedi in any way was already ridiculous and unnecessary for the character. The Ahsoka show did no favors for any of the rebels characters, least of all Sabine.

@bluekunt I’m not trying to change it, but fans use the term to mean whether someone can ever use the force at all. As if having a lower midi-chlorian count means you can’t. That isn’t true. Even with a lower count, someone could train hard and long and become a low or mid level force user

@torisu845 Yeah man thats just what force sensitivity is, trying to change what it is is stupid.

@defined_ADONIS Note that I think there’s now an abridged version of the book that only has art and photos, avoid that one.

Using this as an opportunity to say that the Expanded Novelization for The Rise Of Skywalker is one of my favorite Star Wars books ever. Honestly such an exceptionally written novelization that truly adds so much more to the story. Whether you love or loathe Episode IX, I feel you’ll ultimately appreciate it a little more after giving this novelization a read. Billions must read. Highly recommend!

Forever thinking about how there was a scene filmed for The Rise Of Skywalker where Kylo Ren uses The Force on Chewbacca’s mind, only for it to completely backfire when Chewie’s memories remind him how much Han actually meant to Ben growing up. It ultimately was cut from the final film for being a little too dark, but it’s such a great character moment that I’m glad still exists within Episode IX’s expanded novelization. Would love to see the deleted scenes from this film one of these days!

There’s a genre of person on the internet that can’t accept that something isn’t for them so they have to create some kind of moral reason for not liking something.

@Squiggled_Arts She could never become like Yoda but she could absolutely become a low level or mid level Jedi.

@torisu845 Problem is, effort does not equal reward. She could train for 20 years and still be as weak as Zayne Carrick. A great warrior? Sure, but barely a Jedi.

@PopCulturePb @ThomadTimothy He makes it very clear that everyone has midi-chlorians and can learn to use them, but that some are born gifted.

@ThomadTimothy @torisu845 First you said grabbing 5 year old. Second you said 1 to 3 year olds. Any consistency in your argument would be appreciated. I said they are tested as babies. Be better

@ThomadTimothy @torisu845 They don't test toddlers. They test babies. Grogu would not have been there if they waited til they were toddlers. Its amazing to me how flawed your premise is but I suppose mine would be too if I was also just making stuff up.🤷‍♂️

@Only_Grey This was never the intent of midi-chlorians. Lucas says *everyone* has them.

@Only_Grey I’m not a fan of the term, yeah, and I think people mean different things by it when they say it (many now use it to mean whether someone is able to use the force at all).

The term, "force sensitive" is what throws this off. I don't think that term is ever used in the movies. Ben explained it best in EpIV. The force is everywhere all the time - it's the energy of life and it effects everything. You have to be trained to communicate with it. Simple.

@PerplexdWinter Unfortunately people just don’t really use it that way. They use it like “can or cannot ever use the force.”

@torisu845 Yeah, I much rather the original definition, it makes more sense to me since we know not everyone is the same. It also kinda separates those who would’ve been trained by Jedi as well.
